I miss museums and theatres and health clubs and other quirkily interesting places that are mainly the province of concentrated populations of people. if only there were things like YMCA swimming facilities out here in the sticks. I miss swimming. :|

Currently country, but I prefer cities. It's fun to sit in cafe's watching everyone rushing about out of the window.

watching folks rush about hither and yon, reminds me that I basically have a very rudimentary life. :| at least out in the sticks there are no such reminders. :)

I was, at one time, a country Aspie. Unfortunately, with the continued influx of outsiders from Bawlmer, Warshington, DC, Filthydelphia, Picksburg, and Noo Yawk into South Central PA over the past 50 years, there's damn little countryside left.

As I said earlier in this thread, I'm a city aspie. I have visited rels in small towns, and I have to say, I'd hate to live in an "everyone knows everyone" kind of place. I also tend to get frustrated with their "one step today, one step tomorrow" kind of attitude.
I relish the anonymity and diversity of the city. Disappearing in the crowd is good, being seen is so not what I want.
I like the so much longer opening times of stores too.
Another good thing about cities are that they have more progress and less traditional roles, and also less religious people (at least among ethnic Norwegians).
And as we've all learned from horror movies, bad things happen in the middle of nowhere. :P

The only thing I could do without is the pollution, especially in winter. And the **** daycare nearby! Some summers it's closed and that's wonderful, but sadly t's not every year. I wish it was closed, period.
I also wish it was possible to have all the advantages of living here without having neighbors with brats or who loved parties. Actually we've only had two neighbors who loved parties, and the last one moved years ago, and good riddance.

And when you live in a block of flats, nothing beats the holidays! Summer vacation is an awesome time to be home, because we're often the only ones in the stairs! Woo-hoo!
I love quiet, but conveniences and anonymity matter more. I could also never live in a house, because I'm not handy at all. A lot of the repairs needed in a block isn't our sole responsibility and that's very good.

I like both city and country, but I live in city.
I like that LA is close to mountains and desert and beach, so I visit various natural places near here.

I love the beauty of the country, but not the allergens or the long drives. Or the rednecks! I'd rather live in a suburb, next to a city w/ good GIs. I HATE the 2.5-3 hour drive to the Dr.

That's because there's no signal out here.

I'm more of a country aspie due to my introverted personality and mixed reaction with the crowds. I used to lived in the suburb my whole life until this year, we moved away because it kinda gotten bad where i used to be, so we moved away from the suburb and the city into the country. I enjoyed living there more. :)

I have lived in the city, country, and suburbs. Small towns and the open country are where I feel most relaxed and at home.

Definitely a city aspie. I couldn't live in the country. Sure, the scenery would be nice but I would get bored and frustrated pretty quickly.

I'm a city aspie, as I live in the Los Angeles area, so I'm close to cultural events, and where I live is pretty diverse as well. I'm about 5 minutes away from the beach, and the mountains and desert are maybe an hour's drive away in good traffic, but still close enough to where I can visit anytime I want. What I love is that the worst weather I might have to drive in is rain, as in the winter, the snow stays in the mountains or lightly dusts the desert on the drive to and from Las Vegas.

I wonder how many suburban or exurban [quasi-country] aspies here have had to retreat even further into the sticks upon the encroachment of civilization into suburbia or exurbia?

I suppose I classify as a town aspie. My town has attempted (several times in fact) to be recognised as a city, but continues to fail: probably because it's the urban equivalent of a heap of poo and a void for culture and nice things.

I feel like a country bumpkin at times.

But I was born, raised, and have lived all my life in New York City.

So I guess I'm a "city Aspie."
