I had an interest in Henry VIII and his wives, too.

Of course, I like Ancient History. Marie Antoinette wouldn't be "Ancient History," though

Anne Frank was a great heroine, very brave, such a sad story, reminded me of me a bit, so that's also another reason why she was my SI, she was young, had a sister she didn't get along, got along with her father more than mother, a writer etc.

Oh well Marie Antoinette can count because I have no where else to categorize her lol.

Henry VII and his wives: Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survived.

One interest which has been a constant in my life is animals, especially cats, and particularly breeds of cats I have had (Siamese, tabbies, calicos).

I was always interested in reading about some country. I have researched the histories of Greece, Spain, Japan, Argentina and Russia in detail. Usually, but not always, it was connected to an interest in a famous person from that country.

Sports: I was fascinated with the Olympic Games, track and field, figure skating and now, tennis.

Favorite tennis players: Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer and Denis Istomin. On the women's side, my favorite players are Kim Clijsters (retired) and Caroline Wozniacki.

There isn't a neat little word to describe mine.

It's sort of the natural history of the coast of the British Isles, although depending on what catches my eye at any given time it may include a certain amount of land or ocean of variable size on either side of the actual coastline, and it will probably include what processes are going on in the atmosphere above the coast, whilst at times it might also extend out into more pelagic waters or inland into the woods or up onto the mountains.

So not really a neat and tidy description.

As to why? Well, I grew up in a seaside town and the beach was my playground, especially the bit below the crumbly, unstable cliffs. It was the place where I could get away from people and have my own little adventures. There was always so much stuff to see and learn about. It never became dull or boring and it has been that way ever since. Other interests come and go at times but they usually don't last long and I soon find myself drawn back to the wet and salty places again. I have always lived beside the sea and would hate to live inland without the sight, sound, smell, taste and feel of the sea every day.

(Actually there is one other intermittent interest that sits a bit uncomfortably alongside the above, namely rally motorsport. I keep sort of trying to put an end to it but I know now that it's probably not a good idea to try and suppress an interest when it demands attention).
