I have one friend, although they have now emigrated so I rarely see them. I have trouble keeping in contact even when they are over here anyway.

There's no one else either at work or in the family that I care to talk to. I'm very detached from people.

In real life I now have no friends. No way of meeting any one, and in the very rare occasions that I do I don't often make a good enough impression for someone to want to keep in contact. I have a couple of good online friends I've had for years, though, which helps when hard times happen and you need someone to talk to. I would really love one or two really good friends in reality, though.

I'm down to 1.5 + my Mama (she's my best friend.) I lost 9 friends over the last I think it's been probably 4 yrs. I counted a 0.5 friend because this woman I work with we have done a few things together and texted, but the "outside of work" friendship is actually pretty new and I think she's looking for another job and lives far so I don't want to get to used to her.

Oh, and there's Waldo, too. He's Aspie. I'm not sure, but he may just be using me for my Fancy Feast.

why wouldn't you need it?

i'm no one to speak...of course...but the idea of spending my 20...30s...40s...50s... with no one to turn to but family and maybe a SO doesn't sit well with me. at all.

i appreciate my family but i also like to have someone beside me that i had to do something, to be with.

Spending my life with close family, and/or a SO sounds ideal to me. Of course, spending my life with a roommate I occasionally had a decent conversation with sounds ideal, too. I'd appreciate any company.

^ i hear ya. most of the time i have no friggin clue that my family is talking about, regardless of what language it is in...but it doesn't really matter.

my SO has the uncanny ability to make me relaxed regardless of what i'm feeling :) she has that calming influence.

I have 4 or 5 online and about 2 irl, but one of them I rarely hang out with anymore. I have trouble maintaining friendships.

I got a great group of friends, some of them are on the spectrum, all boys though, I cannot understand my female peers, I have one female friend and she's been my friend since I was six, but since we've gotten older it's getting harder and harder to talk to her. All the other female companions I had dumped me... I really loved them too... It broke my heart... My female friends ( with exception to the life long one) were all also sonic fans. Best friendships I ever had and to this day I still dream of them. I miss role playing with them most of all.

But that aside, my group of friends is large and I feel very welcomed. We are all on the same level and have similar interests.

It's really hard to say how many friends I would claim. I have work friends, photography friends, and people I talk to now and then who would call me a friend. But apart from my wife, I haven't had any close friends - the kind you'd hang out with and have deep discussions - for some years now. Even when I was in my teens and younger, I only had one, maybe two, "real" friends at any given time.

That's partly due to geographical separation, and maybe partly due to being older now. Sometimes I miss that, but I keep busy with my own interests.
