What do they do that's so bad besides make fun of people? Can't people just ignore them? Maybe I'm just too old to get it, but it seems to me that people care entirely too much about what strangers on the internet think.
I'm not saying I agree with it, I just don't get why people care. In my opinion, making fun of weirdos on the internet is really boring, so I don't even see why they are wasting their time, either, unless they have no lives.

this would seem to indicate they are up to more than just making fun of people.

Is it this enough for legal action in the US?

not in the US, unless "a legal action" includes eye rolls.

I think it's possible to go to prison for deliberately driving others to suicide. I'm not entirely sure, though.

This is interesting article about subject:

Is Telling Someone to Commit Suicide a Crime?

As I understand this (and i have no idea how US legal system works) he was convinced because there was something for him to gain. In this case: attention.

One can argue that this is exactly what they (on kiwi) are doing.

EDIT:

I just found this:

U.S. man convicted of encouraging suicides

Interesting article. I do think it should be illegal to goad someone into committing suicide, or to otherwise plot to push someone over the edge so that they do so. Freedom of speech only goes so far. If there is clear intent, the ones responsible should go to prison.

The guy in the second article is basically a serial killer, except that he instead got his victims to do it themselves.

IMHO justice is like freedom, it's never given, one always have to fight for it.

tyler Clementi's parents were not able to fight effectively for their son, unfortunately.

Well, this case is different, and Dharun Ravi was tried and convicted on 15 counts of crimes involving invasion of privacy, attempted invasion of privacy, bias intimidation, tampering with evidence, witness tampering, and hindering apprehension or prosecution.

there is also a very good chance his conviction will be tossed due to the court's earlier invalidation of NJ's bias crimes statute. and so this coldblooded nogoodnik will matriculate into the upper class like many others, to eventually lord it over the rest of us one way or another.

I think anyone who bullies their victim to death should get charged with murder and go to prison for it. Maybe that will scare people into not bullying others because they will be to afraid about them committing suicide. Wait, that might not work because school shootings still happen. People never learn. Right now we are having issues with many homeless here because of skyrocketed rents and has our city ever learned anything? No because landlords are still raising rent and still are keeping them high just because more people are moving here. See, people never learn.

I think they should get into legal trouble when they make whole threads or wikis to bully one person. I don't think mocking WP as a whole needs legal action.

in general, humans will not learn unless it directly affects them, and even then that is iffy.
