Awesome! I've been enthralled by autism for a little over a year now; I just can't stop talking about it :D . It's interesting- I also have obsessions with people and I don't consider them to be in the same category as my special interests. In fact, I can't remember a time when I wasn't completely obsessed with a person.

What are your obsessions with people like?

Usually it's people I know in person or on the internet. But once I had an obsession with a band. I also sometimes get obsessed with certain places.

Actually, I don't think there are many 13-year old girls who are not obsessed with some singer, actor, athlete or model :D

My special interests are modelling and architecture, though my knowledge in both are very basic i just do what I want with it to no particular end which is just a waste of time which could be better spent looking for jobs. So special interest = wasting time / procrastinating. Obsessions on the other hand might include spotting a tiny piece of dirt on something i'd eat on and having to clean it 5x before using it, small details or sounds will distract me so I will have to take steps in order to block that sound or feeling, and avoiding clichés such as everyday tasks.

My obsessions with people have been there since birth. It is always somebody I know in person or on the Internet and I just absolutely love them (not in an intimate way, of course). It's normally somebody much older than me, and all I want to do is talk to them/see them all day long. I've lost friends because of my obsessions- I get way too annoying lol :D .

Have you ever tried to get a career in modeling or architecture? I don't think that learning about anything is wasted time at all. I can relate to your descriptions of obsessions- I had quite severe OCD at one point (though it is getting better :D ).

What types of people do you like?

I used to have crushes on artistic/creative people when I was a teenager.

My friend's mother was, previously, a dancer with a famous dance company. I had a terrible crush on her. I used to sleep over the kid's house so I could talk to the mother.

Lol yeah during school all I want to do is talk to this one teacher, so my friends get shunted to the side :D . Sorry friends....

I normally get attached to people like me- they are either autistic or have significant traits. They get me more than other people do. My teacher friend was the first person to realize that I was never shy, I'm just quiet. I get along with these peopleso well for some reason.

I used deliberately act like a fool in certain teachers classes as I knew the punishment would be to sit at their desks which not a punishment if you had a crush on your teacher

I was into anthropology. No kid was into anthropology. The guidance counselor at my school thought I was nuts when he saw me making the Human Family Tree.

But the guy in the Resource Room used to listen to me. And he invited me over his house. We threw the football around, and went to the park. It was one of the greatest days of my life. And he let me ramble on about Early Man.

That just have been awesome :D . Sometimes my teacher lets me talk about Minecraft and Stampy, but I have to reign myself in from boring them to death. Certain adults are so much more patient than kids.

Interesting. I don't talk to the people I obsess over unless they talk to me first. I'm too shy.

@kraftiekortie: Literally any type of person. Sometimes I get obsessions with people I don't even like, and imagine them doing mean things to me. As for my more positive obsessions, it varies. I used to be "attracted" to smart people. Then I became more into kind or unique people. But sometimes I'll have a dream about a random person and start obsessing over them.

I have a lot of interests. I always remember being interested in something.

My most enduring interest has been animals, especially cats. My favorite breeds are the Siamese, Tabby and Calico, because these are the breeds I have had.

Medical topics

Geography-I always remember being interested in some country. Those I have studied in depth include Japan, Spain, Argentina, Ukraine, Russia and, now Uzbekistan. (The last two are connected to my interest in tennis player Denis Istomin, an ethnic Russian who plays for Uzbekistan).

Music-My favorite decades are the 1950s and 1960s. I also like Classical music and Broadway Showtunes (Evita, Cats)

Tennis, both watching and playing. My favorite players are Federer, Nadal, Ferrer and Istomin.
