I have one wireless remote, but use wires for everything else. Better that than more EM radiation running through my head. Wireless power always involves losses, and risks to nearby biology. Things like electric cars would do better with fast robotic connections than ones with an air gap.
I'll grant that laptop power cords should be designed to pull out easily at any angle, and I do have to untangle things from time to time, but at least I have some hope of controlling my information. Modern wiring is rather marvellous - my heroes used to have to get fussy about where they bought their copper, and then wrap the wires with silk for insulation themselves.
I have done a lot of work involving wires. This week, I soldered in a repair for my bike speedometer, saving an expensive trip. I have even owned a draw gauge to make custom sizes of silver wire. Of the objects I have manufactured for sale, the only high-volume item was hammered brass wire. Coathanger wire is now worth hoarding for all the gadgets you can easily make from it. Most recently, it added a hook to a light fixture here, to hang a sculpture.
