I was 57 when I got a big mental hospital to give me a written Dx. Before that, I figured it out for myself when a friend referred me to WP.

I was 12 when a psychologist first suggested it as a possibility (I didn't understand at the time what that meant), but my parents couldn't front the money for an official autism evaluation. It was the 90s though, so they sent me home with a much more affordable ADHD diagnosis and a bottle of ritalin instead (kind of joking, but this did happen).

Many on the spectrum have co-morbid conditions such as ADHD, ADD as you probably know.
Next time I go to my doctor I'll ask him about a referral to a specialist to help with my ADD.
I might give Ritalin a go and see if there are any improvements in regards to my executive functioning problems.
