I'm proberley being more emotive than is necessary here, but:

Wasn't that every tyrant's excuse? Robert Mugabe as a most recent example.

Yes, but I meant it in the sense of trying to prevent our society from becoming devoid of morals and social bonds by standing up to the system and making it fair.

Atlantis we could probably do, I doubt MGM or SciFi Channel would kick up much of a stink given that Atlantis is pretty much public domain.

Exactly and unbalanced.

Get everyone with the same characteristics and traits in one place, and there's niche overcrowding.

Meanwhile, the communities that these people moved away from suffer because there are now empty niches.

It's like a tiered ecosystem, remove one tier or one niche and the community collapses.

Different people with different traits and abilities are needed for different things.

Herding people with the same traits together might seem like an appealing idea, but it could end in disaster. If not disaster, then boring homogeneity. There would be intense competition to occupy the same niche and do similar jobs. There'd be high productivity, but there wouldn't be much cohesion.

Yes, it would be pretty creepy having to live with people who act like you and look like you.
You'd probably crave variety after a while.
