How long do your 'obsessions' last?

I'm exactly like that. My obsession cycles are speeding up as I get older, I process the subject much more quickly and leave it in the rear view mirror. To the confusion of everyone else. :lol:

Although I think I'm generally speeding up with everything as I get older :?

Thinking about actual times - I know my parents were fed up with my obsessive singing when I was only 3 years old. And I often go on an hours-long internet binge about some random topic, then spend the next day wondering why I lost sleep over THAT. So, I have a range from "two hours" to "39 years and counting."

That sounds very familiar. The longest interest I've had is about 10 years, although I've enjoyed writing all my life, so that's about 50 years :lol:

My interests usually last for at least a few years, even over a decade. I have had a few that lasted only weeks or months, though that is not common for me.

My obsessions last until I hit a wall.
These are usually financial/availability/inability to ask for help.
I will try to resurrect shelved projects should these walls be removed, and if I can find the original project. I am not looking forward to packing down the farm and throwing out so much partially completed stuff.

My three main special interests have been lifelong. The Internet, The Olympics summer and winter and The Kinks.

As short as 5 days and as long as over 20 years.


I hadn't had any since 4 years ago or so now.

And I don't like it.
