I'm Irish and live in Waterford. I'm not really aware of any other people with AS (atleast those who are my age) and when I was diagnosed about 10 months ago there were only three other people between 12 and 20 who'd been diagnosed with it so services are extremely limited and although a note was handed in to the school once I received a diagnosis I don't think any of the teachers (except for my Science teacher) really knows what it is.

I noticed that Irish Canadians and Irish Americans are always real proud of their ancestry and like to let everyone know that they are Irish descendants. Why is that? Is it because Ireland has a long history of fighting and rebelling against foreign nations (i.e. Vikings, Normans, British etc.) that invaded the island? Thats the only real reason I like being Irish. I have a rebel mentality as it is so I like the fact I come from a nation with a long history of fighting and rebellion.

Yes, it's very strange. They think they're more Irish than the Irish themselves.

Strange, you never hear of "English Americans" because they blend in so easily.

So you're British then?

Didn't mind Donegal when I visited, though it was a bit wet.

Never visited Dublin.

yeah, I'm British but I'm still proud of my Irish ancestry! :) I love Donegal, it's a beautiful place although there is lots of rain! but then Cumbria also has lots of rain!

I'm a diagnosed aspie and I'm moving to Ireland in a week.
Since it's hard for me to know new people (as hard any aspie would find it), I would like to know people form this forum. If anyone is interested, please send me a private message.
Thanks
