I heard that there's a girl on this season with Aspergers. Has anyone seen it? Does she seem to really have it or is it just some ridiculous ploy for free advertising and a guise to seem politically correct and aware.

umm... yeah I think she really does have it. From her zoning out periods to the girls teasing her for being weird to some of the girls "mothering" her. I read in a Tony Attwood article that most AS girls tend to be mothered by the other girls since seeing AS tendencies brings that out in girls. But yeah, I really think she does have it.

Several other posts on this board about that - so far, she has done fantastic. The judges always say something about the intensity of her eyes in the photos, and in the last segment, she talked about that (sorta). She said she is an artist, and always starts her drawings with the eyes. She knows if she gets the eyes right, the drawing will turn out good.

HEY, I JUST saw heather talk about sketching from the eyes! I have watched maybe 30 minutes of it(Trying to find out if we even HAD CW was a production! I was told it would either be on the old WB, or the old UPN, or someplace else! It was on ESPN!! !! !! !! !).

So far, she seems to fit in! I couldn't tell she is different. One of her problems is keeping her head up. That is probably a typical problem. I know I have that problem.

So what is victoria like? I kind of like her, and she said some things, and acts a little, like she has AS. But if heather is openly AS, I kind of hope she wins. The others seem to have some respect for her. One spoke, in a half joking fashion, about having to stop her or slow her down.

BTW This time, EVERYONE said heather in person wasn't great, but in the photograph looks GREAT! BTW they apparently like victoria also.

Thanks for the videos, computer love! :D WOW, she seems to be very much like I am. They show her working by herself, etc.... MAN, if I had seen this, and didn't already think so, I would have started to think I could have it.

It's a pity they couldn't have a hyperlink to this on normal TV. The feelings she has about being primped and polished, and touch seem odd for an aspie though. I'm certainly NOT that way.

For those of you who haven't seen the episodes, here is a link to a page that gives recaps of all the episodes to date:

And here's the site where you can watch full episodes on your computer:

I think it's interesting that people on this site are "bashing" her for not being "aspie" enough. Autism is a spectrum disorder. We're all very different from each other and no two people are going to have EXACTLY the same traits. That's what makes it fun! She was diagnosed with Aspergers as a child so I'd say it's pretty definite that she has it. Just from watching the show with her interaction with others I can see it.

Lonermutant... I'd ask you to define what "normal" is. In my opinion, there is no such thing as normal.

LOL this is funny!

Barack Obama is not 'black' enough! Heather is not "Aspie" enough. . .

sheesh. But I loved Heather's reaction when they said they were going to do nude modeling. . her face got a look like 'oh, gawd, NOW I have to deal with all THAT!"

but when she did the shoot. . she was good and her photo was considered not modeling but ART. I thought she was incandescent at that complement.

But then again should we really be encouraging this? Is showing your ass on television the best an Aspie can aspire to?
