Aspies-- does it bother you to be called autistic?

In other words, we learn to hide those stims because it doesn't "look right/normal". I agree though, that the pure variety of AS people tremendously clouds the entire vision.
Do you hide them or do you not need to partake in them due to being more comfortable than others? For example, I never "flapped" in primary school (1-7), but shortly into my high school years (8-11), I began to "flap" due to being overwhelmed. I got teased for the latter, but I couldn't stop said flapping no matter how much I tried to refrain from doing it (I avoided going near those who teased me).
2ukenkerl,
CDD is autism, well, it's a part of the spectrum; the YALE article sounds like it's describing autistic disorder, except for the age of onset. I agree however, for every individual with autistic disorder there's another four with AS; people tend to fixate on the absolute worst in most cases.

Autistic Disorder differs from Childhood Disintegrative Disorder, which has a distinctive pattern of severe developmental regression in multiple areas of functioning following at least 2 years of normal development. In Autistic Disorder, developmental abnormalities are usually noted within the first year of life.
