What emotions do you not experience?

I've experienced every emotion I can think of.

Maybe off-topic, but is empathy an emotion? I suppose lack of empathy is part of the definition of AS. I only feel my own emotions; I have never felt anyone else's, no matter how vividly they describe them. I just can't put myself emotionally in their place, although I know how to listen and say, "That's too bad, I understand," or whatever is appropriate. I don't know if that counts in this thread, but those are emotions I don't experience...

I experience all emotions, but I do not understand others'. Therefore I usually end up expressing my empathy towards others in a very logical way. I'm still confused as to what NT's do or say when someone is crying or angry or any other high running emotion like that. I kind of just enforce the fact that they have been wronged by stating facts, and let them know that their reaction had warrant. In NT language maybe that would translate to "It's okay to cry, what happened was screwed up". My brain can't be that simple though.

I used to not experience pain for other people. I was glad of it. I was glad I didn't have to suffer like the people who felt the pain of the world. Now I'm different.

I can feel:

- anger
- happiness (rarely)
- depression (too often)


I cannot feel:

- empathy
- sympathy
- other peoples feelings

I understand, but don't feel:

- love

As quoted by the terminator, I understand how you feel, but I cannot feel what you feel.

Love. Not family love, or friendly love, the other kind.
