Weird and beautiful. :)

Speaking of weird:

When I first saw a photo of this flower on DA (incidentally, either that photo or some others by the same photographer was dedicated to autistic children) I thought, just what *is* this thing? I'd never seen it before, and it looked quite unusual. Only a couple of days ago, while browsing a stock photography site, I came across the flower once again and learned that it is called nigella and has a strange common name, "love in the mist". :)

Cosmos, Bachelor's Buttons, irises, lilacs, peonies, and day lily's are my favorite flowers. Cosmos make such pretty bouquets but they don't last long :( I still love them! :)

Quince are kind of like cherry blossoms, which I also like very much.

And peonies...

especially in Chinese paintings.

I also like irises, but they don't stay around very long... and violets and lily of the valley.

This flower smells like rotten meat to attract pollinators. Cool huh? I love diversity.

Black orchids, magnolias, night-blooming jasmine, Bulgarian rose, honeysuckle, lily of the valley, poppies, and asphodel (being the flower that grows in Hades and all)

I adore irises. I love black irises especially. Would post a pic of one but can't find a non copyrighted one.

I have to agree with Cdarwin here, the rotten meat scent makes perfect sense in nature, and objectively there's nothing whatsoever "ugly" about it. The very idea that a flower should smell like this is engaging and, when one comes to think about it, wonderful. :)

I like irises a lot, too - I posted a few pictures of different ones a while back. I've never seen a black iris though, or even heard that those exist (will have to do a search on DA and other places, now that you've mentioned it).
