Accepting Autism is Like a Traffic Jam
No evidence of persisting measles virus in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from children with autism spectrum disorder.
Yasmin D'Souza, Eric Fombonne, Brian J. Ward. Pediatrics. Oct 2006 v118 i4 p1664(12).
Author's Abstract:
OBJECTIVES. Despite epidemiologic evidence to the contrary, claims of an association between measles-mumps-rubella vaccination and the development of autism have persisted. Such claims are based primarily on the identification of measles virus nucleic acids in tissues and body fluids by polymerase chain reaction. We sought to determine whether measles virus nucleic acids persist in children with autism spectrum disorder compared with control children.
PATIENTS AND METHODS. Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were isolated from 54 children with autism spectrum disorder and 34 developmentally normal children, and up to 4 real-time polymerase chain reaction assays and 2 nested polymerase chain reaction assays were performed. These assays targeted the nucleoprotein, fusion, and hemagglutinin genes of measles virus using previously published primer pairs with detection by SYBR green I. Our own real-time assay targeted the fusion gene using novel primers and an internal fluorescent probe. Positive reactions were evaluated rigorously, and amplicons were sequenced. Finally, antimeasles antibody titers were measured by enzyme immunoassay.
RESULTS. The real-time assays based on previously published primers gave rise to a large number of positive reactions in both autism spectrum disorder and control samples. Almost all of the positive reactions in these assays were eliminated by evaluation of melting curves and amplicon band size. The amplicons for the remaining positive reactions were cloned and sequenced. No sample from either autism spectrum disorder or control groups was found to contain nucleic acids from any measles virus gene. In the nested polymerase chain reaction and inhouse assays, none of the samples yielded positive results. Furthermore, there was no difference in anti-measles antibody titers between the autism and control groups.
INTERPRETATION. There is no evidence of measles virus persistence in the peripheral blood mononuclear cells of children with autism spectrum disorder.
or
over any link between the MMR vaccine and
autism.Tara Horan reports
THERE is no evidence to support a link
between the MMR vaccine and the development
of autism in children, according to
new research published in the Lancet last
month.
Concern about a reported link between
the triple vaccine for measles, mumps and
rubella, and autism, and a consequent fall
in vaccine coverage prompted this
research, which was funded by the Medical
Research Council in the UK.
Researchers at the London School of
Hygiene and Tropical Medicine investigated
whether MMR vaccination is
associated with an increased risk of autism
or other pervasive developmental disorders.
Controversy over the vaccine was first
sparked by a small-scale study led by
Dr Andrew Wakefield, which suggested a
(ink with autism and bowel problems in
1998.This study was also published in the
Lancet, but has since been described as
'flawed' by the journal's editor. Meanwhile,
other larger-scale studies have failed to
find any evidence of a link and Dr Wakefield's
research has been discredited.
Indeed, 10 doctors who co-authored the
Wakefield study have since said there is
not enough evidence to conclude a link
between the MMR and autism.

Foresam,
Please disprove the counter arguments made by other posters about mercury NOT being the cause of Autism.
Thanks!

Has it occurred to you that Zarathustra thought you might benefit from hanging out here and learning from people on the autism spectrum with views diametrically opposed to your own?
Maybe if you stop trying to force your fanciful theories down our throats, and stop calling us 'brain damaged' we'll get along just fine.
Welcome to WP!

Cured children are proof that, by removing mercury from the brain with chelation and causing normalcy, we have discovered the cause.
So all children that have been treated in that way have been cured completely of all autistic symptoms? Do you have a source for that?

I agree 1000% with this part. Before coming to this board, I never considered accepting this disorder that came straight from hell. I get your arguments. We are smarter than NTs, we see things that they don't. Guess what. That crap isn't the key to happiness. Is there anything more important than happiness? We come across as antisocial freaks. Look at the name of this site we come to every day. Wrong Planet. What the hell does that say? We don't belong on this planet? We aren't human? I could rant for a whole page.
Macallan,
You have been fed propaganda that convinced you to beleieve autism is some sort of "different wiring". That's not true. Autism and Asperger's are mercury induced brain damage. Sometimes the truth can sound insulting. Hey, I come from an age before political correctness was invented.
Pharma would like you to believe you have "different wiring". I want you to know the truth so you can sue the balls off of Pharma. I want you to help yourself so won't be running around saying you have "different wiring" while everyone laughs at you knowing that it is brain damage. Do you understand? I'm not laughing at you. I'm explaining how saying that you have different wiring causes people to laugh at you.
TMA test is proven fact that only people with mercury poison show symptoms of a microscopic part of As Description, & also like always Extravert’s base they fact’s on hearsay, rather than fact's & proven evidence...
me saying "did you know you can do cold fusion at room temperature", like 1 scientist did...

It seems this nonsense began in 1999, the same year we discovered that mercury had caused the autism epidemic. I think some extremely intelligent, but evil people, came up with this insanity to sway the thinking of lots of young folks who are naive and easily led.
As an outsider looking at this, I'm telling you you have all fallen for an elaborate con job. The last thing the drug companies who poisoned you want is an angry bunch of young people standing up to them and demanding that they repair the damage they did to your brains. All of this acceptance BS can only have started from some con artists who are very skilled in propaganda.
The drug companies knew you were coming of age and they have corrupted your values. In America, we have a long history of not taking crap from anyone. As an American, it is your heritage to tell the politicians and the drug companies that it was not OK for them to poison you with mercury and screw up your lives. Instead of accepting your diminished capacities, you should be banding together to tell George Bush to go F*** himself, demand payment for your brain injuries and demand that Bush spend whatever it takes to giver you back the normal lives you were born with. Stop falling for this nonsense about "different wiring" and stand up for your rights!
You don't speak for us, John.

Nope, I just don't buy it. My dad has clear Aspie traits and by all accounts so did my grandfather (born in 1900).
Calling people 'brain damaged', 'stupid' and 'liars' because we disagree with you has nothing to do with the truth or political correctness.
*rolls troll across the floor to next poster*
Beau,
Whether you like it or not, I do speak for you. Your diminished capacity prevents you from speaking logically for yourself. Associating with those who want you to celebrate having brain damage is not logical.
Insomniaket,
The poor thinking of autistic brains is just a symptom. You have to go beyond that and address the cause if you want to solve the problem.
