Sean... where do you live mate?! Oh, and for the record, cars don't come taking gas, you have to get an additional fuel tank put in. Costs about 2 grand, but it's generally thought to save a lot of money in the long run, so a fair few people convert.

I live about 70 miles (120km?) SSE of Los Angeles and people use only gasoline or in a few cases diesel in staggering quantities. Trying to find a place to fill up on natural gas would be more like a quest around here. With the exception of some public buses and trash trucks, alternative fuels just aren't used.

we run LPG and natural gas here, but its rare. Mostly only for fleet vehicles such as busses and meter trucks that run very specified routes. There are a few people who have had their vehicles converted, but the refueling stations are few and far between. All this being said, it really should go over better in this country than it has. The US and Canada have one of the largest pockets of natural gas on earth. If we were to convert, fuel prices would plummit. And the octane is higher I hear too....I'd love to be able to run 30lbs of boost on pump gas!

That being said, it is available from the manufacturer on a dual fuel basis with some vehicles. You won't see it on the show room, but you can specify when you by the car if you want a dual fuel model. Some manufacturers do this.

1998 Chevy Silverado 3500 Dually Crew-Cab.......Black!
my Ex-Husband bought it for me new when W/we were still married. and it drove like a cadillac then, and still does. but best of all, in a world full of intimidating situations among "NT's". driving is not one of them.....
<giggles.....>

it's also great for hauling my longboat down to the sound to go rowing; or taking my recumbent bike out to the best bike trails in seattle to ride. i can even take several friends and their bikes with me; though that doesn't happen much any more.....
<sad eye's...>

I drive a '99 Ford Contour (a.k.a. Mondeo) with the V6, stick shift, and sport suspension. It's amazingly fun to drive, especially on twisty roads. Feels far more like a BMW than a Ford.

My previous car was a '93 Lincoln Mark VIII. It looks like something an old man would drive. But it had a 280hp DOHC V8, and would flat out haul ass.

My best friend has a '98 Vette, and he's nice enough to let me drive it. Which I enjoy tremendously, except for one major drawback--it attracts an unbelievable amount of attention. I can't drive 3 miles to get a pack of smokes without encountering people trying to race me, shouting "NICE CAR!", walking up to me in in the parking lot and asking "is it fast? how much does one of those cost?", etc. He loves the attention. I sure don't.
