It happens to me all the time, sometimes deliberatly and sometimes not. it seems to help me remember things whether I want to or not. Usually a thought loops back at least once. Sometimes my mind seems to go into echo mode, sometimes I'm changing a word here and there. It's very much like writing and reading a section over and editing...Then after the edit, I may go through again...

Sometimes I notice it in dream sequences... I'll repeat the same sequence. Sometimes I'm trying to remember it, other times find myself in a never ending loop such as going down a never ending staircase trying to find the exit... Those dreams annoy me.

I do the same thing. I often repeat the same phrases in my writing - sometimes only a few paragraphs apart. Other times I'll unconsciously repeat the same word in a given sentence. Drives me crazy whenever I see that happening and do a 'find' on the word or phrase.

There was a poster spamming the forums with sick pictures, his posts must have been deleted.

It also happens after I write something. I have to read my post over at least once, maybe twice...sometimes more. That's also why I tend to edit my posts a lot.

It can be annoying at times, but I've learned to accept it as a gift. It helps me write. When I am imagining story scenes (I visualize them in animated loops like one would see in a DVD) with dialogue etc... It becomes handy to be able to repeat the scene sometimes on request, sometimes it just comes up...

I figure the repeating process is just the brain's way of being able to store the info into long-term memory. If I get the right loops repeated, it can come in handy... I sometimes surprise people that I can remember something, sometimes a post and be able to find it relatively quickly. That can happen to websites too. I guess it is because my mind must have repeated it a few times while reading.
----------
In conversation I have to watch out...because not only do the same thoughts repeat, but sometimes the emotion along with. So if I am showing off something like a blooming African violet, I may show it over and over to the same person or different people, until they tell me they've seen it already.

All the time.

Somehow I derive some sort of satisfaction from saying the same thing over and over again in different ways.

Furthermore, there's the whole "rehearsing for social interaction thing", that is a big thing for me.

I have this same "problem". Most of my posts get edited eventually. I don't really see it as being a problem, more of an annoyance.

BTW I haven't seen you for a while MJ, I was wondering where the hell you were.

I do it when i write as well.

My mind makes up a part of a story, i think about it over and over and over again, usually while stimming.

I'll get words in my head sometimes. Just like getting a song stuck in your head, I'll get a word and it will just repeat. Especially if it has a funny sound to it.

I often find myself thinking back to a specific moment from six or seven years ago quite often. I'll be doing something and then this one particular thing that happened when I was working as an assistant teacher would enter my mind. I even find myself remembering the words that were said from it.

Also, as a teenager, I spent a week at a baseball camp one summer. On my first day there, an old song on TV would keep popping into my head. It had nothing to do with baseball, but it wouldn't go away. I was actually humming it when the ball would be hit my way!

I know that this can happen to anyone after just hearing a certain song or dialogue. It would happen to me without that happening first.
