I just want to say thanks for all the advice, it is much appreciated. And yes, I am well aware that she has certain nutritional needs. The soya milk she is on is meant for children from 7 months on wards, and it has 300mg of calcium per serving, as well as other vitamins. She will be getting lots of fresh fruits like apple and banana etc. I will be buying fresh (not processed) vegetables, mixed packs, so she will have a variety of veg. She loves deep fried wedgies of potatoes, rice, chicken and bacon etc. She will be getting rooibos tea, apple juice, tea with soya milk and soya based chocolate drinks.

I don’t think taking away milk and wheat based products will leave her malnourished, there is corn & rice as well. Her porridge is called Coco Pops, and it is made with rice.

Thanks, I will do a google search for corn bread, here in South Africa, the product is labeled Maize flour.

Come to think of it, when she was on cow’s milk and normal cheese, she was constipated most of the time. It once got so bad, that she cried in agony, I had to get her meds for her tummy.

Tonight, after having been on the soya milk the whole day, she seems a little brighter and more energetic than usual. I am going to keep an eye on things and see how it progresses from here. It could be that the normal cow’s milk has made her feel a little sluggish

Something else you might try - if she has trouble with cow's milk, she might do well on goat's milk. I had a child friend who was lactose intolerant and just could not handle cow's milk at all. She COULD drink goat's milk, though, and seemed to do well by it. Good luck!

The theory behind the GFCF diet is that as autistics, are bodies hold natural allergies to specific things. The idea goes that these allergies cause bad behaviours. Cutting these things out, eliminates the allergy and eliminates by default the bad behaviours.

I've seen some kids actually have fewer issues after being put on the diet. I notice that reducing some of those things make me feel less grouchy. Would it cause me to behave badly and flip out if I ate it? No, but there's a little bit to the quackery here, I think.

I can send you some clinical studies for icam if you want.

Why not post them here, for everybody to see?
Take out the unsupported testimonials and subjective opinions - that should shorten your 'evidence' considerably - and include only traceable and verifiable objective data. That way, we can all draw our own conclusions.

Who knows? You might even convince me.

I've seen them diagnose girls this young that show socialization issues. I haven't seen many boys diagnosed that early. At least not with Asperger's. Usually, though, most doctors seem to wait until they are a little older. Kids are just so different in stages and ages before age 3, that most doctors will wait and see what happens.
