I hate the social pressure that comes along when a coworker or relative brings a baby to visit. It's always "Here, you can hold the baby, if you want." I always feel like there's something wrong with me for not wanting to.

I never know how to get out of that situation without hurting the parent's feelings. So, the next thing I know, there I am peer-pressured into stiffly holding some baby in front of everyone and praying to God I don't drop it on it's head or something.

Then, after that, it's always "So, doesn't it make you want one of your own?" No. No, it doesn't.

lol, im EXACTLY like that with babies. But im the opposite with children :S

Yes, oh my god I can't stand babies. Which is bad because I'm a childcare worker. I've always tried to avoid working with the babies but always seem to get stuck with them. I love toddlers but babies are quite useless, unless they are the rare super happy kind that just smile and look sweet. I know a gorgeous baby that I do like, Charlie who just wants to smile at you. I can't stand the little scream bags that just cry at nothing.

I also totally relate to blueroses, I never want to hold the baby. I hate women who get all gushy and run to hold the baby, but after it starts walking and talking they take no notice of it anymore. That's when they become interesting to me!

Actually, NT's also don't like the sound of crying responsibilities (babies).

Go ask those who don't have kids how they feel about the sound of kids and babies.

Make sure you also ask to be honest. There are also those who only like their own children or tolerate sounds of their own children but hate the sound of other children.

It's not an AS thing solely.

I don't mind crying babies. I like crying babies far more than mute adults.

Babies and toddlers are the best age group I get along with; hell, I make eye-contact and everything.

No, they don't annoy me.

Yes. So do their parents who are always shoving their babies into my lap to hold. Get this thing away from me. I can't stand babies. Baby humans at least. Kittens and ferret kids I love to hold. Human babies scream and it has been compared to a jet taking off. Animal babies just make soft whimpers. Also I can't stand the dense pressure sensation I feel when near someone. It's usualy ten times worse in babies. I just don't know what to do when they are around and want to get away from them. I can't even stand the infants in my own family. I have a major germ phobia and can't bear the thought of sticky, baby hands all over everything. When my cousin was a baby and when my aunt dumped her on us I would freak out whenever she touched anything of mine. My mom would yell at me to quit it and that she wasn't going to eat it. No, she was getting her germs all over it. I don't care if it hurts the parents feelings, I will NOT hold babies.

I'm not annoyed by babies themselves, but I can't stand the loud screaming. I don't mind certain sounds they make, like cooing and other such softer noises, but the loud crying/screaming just hurts my ears, moreso if it's a sudden loud scream I'm unprepared for.

Hmm. lets see. Babies. Well they eat, sleep, pee, poop, cry and puke... Nope. Definitely don't like them much...

Kids love me and adore me cause I am nice to them, tell them stories and play with them. My own kids when babies cried thorugh the night and I had sleepless nights liek any parent, but I do remember being alone one night wiht my baby son who couldn't stop screaming and I was surprised about the effect it had on me. I was changing his diapers...I shook him a few seconds to make him stop, but of course he started crying louder. I will never forget this about me, and this is about 17 years ago and it is still engraved in my memory and feel guilty about it.

Toddlers and babies are my favorites too. They are so cute at that age.

I hate babies, they should be banned. I'd support mandatory abortions

Babies and toddlers are the cutest, sweetest, most adorable creatures on the planet! When you smile at a baby or a toddler they smile right back at you without thinking, or at least stop what they are doing and look surprised.

I was being ironic.

I don't actually mind babies as long as they are asleep ;p

I used to hate them, but once I became a father it all changed completely. It's said to be like that for most men, though I gather that women usually just like babies all the time.

Not that it didn't give me problems - the worst one was coming to terms with the loss of individual freedom and space. I felt that I'd been carved up between work, marital duties and childcare, with nothing left for me as an individual in my own right. I don't know how I found the strength to cope, though people tell me I was a good father, in fact when my son was a little older he told me I was the only adult he knew who cared about what he wanted.

The other thing was the noise of his crying - shattering my concentration, winding me up......earplugs were only slightly helpful and they made my ears itch after a while. I knew it wasn't his fault of course.

But I don't regret it. I grew to love kids, they're so wonderfully genuine and free of prejudice, compared to adults. We can grow too smart for our own good.
