I took in an abandoned baby squirrel last week. He snuggled with me, climbed my neck and slept by my chin. I tried to bring him to the wildlife rescue people so they could rehabilitate him into the wild, but he died on the way there. They told me he was severely dehydrated because he was only 4 weeks old. I tried my best to get him help. I wish I could have helped him more.

We buried "Crispy" in the backyard.

Was he cremated, this Crispy?

No. Though I can see why that would make a fitting name for a cremated squirrel. No the neighborhood kids named him Crispy because they said he liked the Rice crispy treat they gave him. It very well could have helped to kill him since he wasn't supposed to eat solid foods yet. I kept the name out of respect for the little girl that meant well by feeding him.

He might haved lived longer if the girl hadn't fed him rice crispy treats. Just a thought.

Yes. I know. Its one of the reasons I took him in. To get him away from the neighborhood kids and cats.

Capybaras are my favourite animals. They're so cute, like giant guinea pigs! 8)

I still haven't figured out how to post a picture! It's not fair! How did you do that?

...ah well, when i leave home i can probs get a rat ^^. or mouse, I like mice, mice are cute and white. but still, first off I've got to learn the meaning of the word independent, then I've got to learn to "be" independent ;p. I'd also quite like to be able to do something for myself now and again.
Can you use that as a reason to get a pet? A lot of people say that's a good way to learn responsibility.

Um, did you ever catch one and get a good look at it? Maybe show it to someone? That sounds impossible, like maybe a scientist should have been allowed to see it.

im just wondering, alot of people i know seem to have rodents, mice and rats especially, but to be honest, i think they're the cutest things out there ^^. i mean, i remember being under a bridge on a footpath by my house one time and there was a rat running around in there, i wasn't gonna touch it but i just thought it was cute :). anyone else like rats/mice and so on?

back when am joined wrong planet,am still had rats, dad looked after them for am but am took them out.
the last group of rats were all boys and were all rexes, they had been rescued from a auction as they were being sold as live food for snakes.their cage was a huge superpet ferret kingdom, full of hammocks and other nice things, unfortunately,am was moved out in into an institution-the same year joined wp,and they refused to allow them to stay in bedroom saying other residents dont like rats [they are not allowed in bedroom so has nothing to do with them anyway].
dad could not take them out much and they became quite wild,so he looked for someone to become their new
human-a new human was found-the son of a pet shop owner who was same age as am and hf autistic,he looks after them in their ferret kingdom cage.

rats are awesome, given a bad rep. through no fault of their own.

I find rats to be disgusting, but if it's like little mice in a cage nibbling on cheese, that's cute.

Rats you'd find eating garbage... not so much.

Rats are considered vermin for a reason. Their reputation is not falsely appended.

daysleeper, great pics. Adorable animals.

KingdomofRats, I've always wondered about your name, and I always liked it. Interesting to know where it comes from.

My mom had caught one, and they definitly were "mousters".
*Shrug* No scientists, though. For one, we don't live there now. For two, all the "mousters" would be dead by now.

Don't see why it'd be impossible. If two felines of different species can have offspring (like a lion and tiger making a liger. [Or tigon, depending on which was the father/mother].), then why not two rodents?

Oh, as for posting images?

Is that the only way? With something that's already on the net?
Can I post something that I have in "Paintbrush"?

Yes, if you upload it to an image hosting site, e.g. ImageShack.us. Then post it with the above tags.

Hamsters are cute, but they are solitary and they bite. I don't recomend them as a pet for kids, rats on the other hand are cute and firendly, they loved to be picked up and played with, and they don't bite, or at least you have to do A LOT to the rat to get them to bite.

Those statements refer to wild rats. Pet rats can be vaccinated against any diseases that humans and other pets can be and they do not eat garbage if their owners keep them fed with healthy foods.

BTW, I know they are technically not rodents, but I like bats. I think it's ridiculous that bats are not allowed to be domesticated as pets.
