That's what council workers, builders and engineers are for. :)

Hippie 2 – Yeah, we'll have one guy who like makes bread and one guy who like looks out for other people's safety.
Stan – You mean like a baker and a cop?
Hippie 1 – No. No. Can't you imagine a place where people live together and like provide services for each other in exchange for their services?
Kyle – Yeah, it's called a town.

Communes can be towns, and we can have councils, etc.

Ah, you mean you hate them because they might not be able to cope without the very society they've turned their backs on?

No, I hate hippies because hippies suck (seriously: flower power, pot smoking, make love not war, etcetera. Ah! That stuff drives Daniel the genocidal warmonger insane). I hate gypsies far more however.

My father had been a Hippie for a time, but he hated marijuana...

I agree, those are dumb things... (especially "Make love not war." What am I supposed to do if I can't make love? LOL.) But I chalk it up to "naiveity" more than anything else. They didn't really know better, it just seemed like an alternative to global nuclear annihilation.

Whilst I agree that Hippies do generally suck and that south park does rule this quote kinda misses the point about modern society.

Whilst most of us provide services for each other in exchange for other services the people who make the real money do f all in the way of providing services. This is a society that rewards people for manipulation of others and being born into the right family far more than it does people who actually work and do something useful for a living.

Sorry in advance if I turn this thread into a political thing

QFT. And what really bugs me is when they say "You just gotta pull yourself up by the boot-straps." They act like there are so many opportunities and we're so dumb/lazy for not taking them, but the reality is that they've been systematically removing those opportunities. And look where it's got us.

Is there some way we could listen to all of them at the same time - now that would be far out.

Time lapse explanation: Went to the kitchen for a glass of water right after ProPretorius asked someone to put on the Pink Floyd album with the funny picture and Fogman asked "which one?"
In the meantime, Aliens snatched me, and though I could see my body sitting in a corner on the kitchen floor with the glass of water in my hand, I knew it was only an illusion and that in reality I was viewing myself through a porthole from another galaxy named NIM.

well, we could buy an island someplace nice, if everybody would chip in we could make it work... we'd build a community, with a wooden hut and a hammoc for each WP member, loads of living space, with no forced socialising, no unaffiliated NTs allowed on the island... we could get all the genius guys to do research there that is illegal elsewhere... if any of it works, we could make loads of money on it and invest it further...

we could open a bank for rich people who want to hide their income... do some serious money laundering, buy a few goldmines in Africa... we could make our community flourish on money earned by NTs and invested in our scientific research... hell, we could get the best brains there are on our side... they are all autistic anyway!

the opportunities are endless!

:P
