Morgana - I know what you mean. I am not a ballet dancer but I often wish I were! I will do random (non-pro) tip-toe stretches and leap across the floor to land on my toes, etc.
Barefoot:
Standing - on toes very highly raised (almost vertical)
- on toes slightly raised (eg 1-2 inch heel)
- on edges of feet
- with just heels
- with just heels and toes (middle of foot arched and does not touch the ground)
Walking - on toes slightly raised
- with just heels and toes
- heavily heel first, and rest of foot comes after
Running - on toes slightly raised
- heel first*
- normal "shuffle"
With shoes:
Standing - on edges of feet (the whole sneaker rotates inwards so it looks like the soles of my feet are facing each other)
- with just heels and toes (inside my sneakers)
Walking - heavily heel first, then rest of the foot slaps down
Running - heel first*
* when I attempt to run for a long time with my heel first, such as exercising, I inevitably end up with headaches from the impact.
so yea, I sometimes toe-walk, heh
