Every time I used glue, I would lick the drip off the cap.

- eating play-doh. Salty.

- I had an imaginary friend called Mia until I was 10.

- (on the Santa Claus topic) I figured out the truth about Santa when I was quite young. I don't know why it's supposed to be traumatic, what's so good about believing a lie? Weird... Anyway, I pretended to believe for a bit longer just for more presents, LOL, same wih the Tooth Fairy and stuff.

- I was obsessed with nighttime when I was younger, and I would constantly try to sneak out of bed at night and have "midnight feasts". I guess it's cos nighttime is mysterious to a small child who is supposed to be in bed well before 9pm. Nowadays I stay up as late as I want, so it kinda loses its appeal.

Oh yeah, I used to do that too! I was quite amazed when I found out that crayons turn to liquid when placed on the classroom's steam heat radiator. Pretty colors and patterns could be made by melting more than one color together. People complained about the stink but I didn't think it smelled bad! Liquid crayon juice would drip onto the floor and solidify. I would place a crayon onto the radiator and leave it for someone else to find the mess, and this really upset the teacher, but he never figured out it was me!

Ummmm...IS fun! I know a 75 yo college dean who still gets off on launching bottle rockets.

I, personally, enjoy hands-on pyrotechnics. And here in the Southern US - you can buy some serious artillery - legally.

Crazy Steve's - conveniently located on the I85 corridor between Georgia and South Carolina. Just tell 'em MmeLePen sent you!

As a child I was fascinated by the window fan and what it would do to my voice. I would stand in front of it and hum, or hold a steady note, run the scales, etc. The sound of my voice being reflected back at me, but with that peculiar vibrato effect that the fan created was very interesting to me. I would play at finding the resonant frequencies with my voice. Obviously this drove my mother crazy and she tried to make me stop. I suppose she might have been worried about what the neighbors would think of me serenading the neighborhood through the window fan.

I would also drive her crazy with my ability to recite back TV commercials word for word. It didn't help that the commercials that I would quote would either be for cigarettes or beer (neither of which were approved of by my parents.) I was about 4 years old when I started doing this. I still have many of those commercials stored away in my brain now, some 45 years later. "Winston tastes good like a cigarette should", "Call for Phillip Morris", etc.

I used to sing into a fan. Or just go 'Ahhhh, urrrr, wahhhh'.
I also used to pull apart toys rather than play with them.
My brother would go one further and recreate car crashes and would even set them a light. When my eldest sister found out he got in so much trouble, because she ratted him out to our mum.

I would still serenade the fan if I had an opportunity. A person I knew would burn her barbies and then blame it on me and my siblings. That same girl also rummaged through everywhere and had no respect for anyone, and was sitting in my basement showing me and my siblings a porn magazine she found once. I pulled heads off my sisters barbies, and was amused with taking their clothes off and yelling bare naked barbies. She was mildly amused by it too, until she had to put the clothes back on, which was always a pain.

At one house I lived at there was an 8 year old nympho living beside us... Not gonna get into details, but she was absolutly perverted for 8 years old.

My brother used to love making little bonfires just for the hell of it, LOL, but Mum hated the smell of the smoke.

I just recently thought it would be a good laugh to melt a Coke bottle with the gas lighter, LOL, it was funny! I only just got over my phobia of fire that I've had since a rogue Catherine Wheel set fire to the fence when I was little, else I probably would have done it sooner.

Lets see....

I used to talk to the fireplace in my bedroom and tear open teabags to give it something to eat..

Did core sampling in the back garden without fully realising that's what it's called, but I did a 1.5 metre core of our back flowerbeds and discovered beach sand down there!

I would just stand in the school playground and stare at the sun, I loved the way it sorta burns your eyes out in greeny/red colours and I thought that meant something was transmitting into me from the sun

I would take my dolls to bits. I remember you got 'Gem' dolls back then (this was the 80's) they had a flashing red LED on the ears which were supposed to be flashing ear-rings...pulled that mechanism to bits, I stripped the rubbery flesh off her legs to see the knee-bending mechanism and the plastic supports inside..

While the other kids were playing with each other, I would obsessively go about the playground using my right leg to drag all the autumnal leaves into big piles around the edge of the playground so they were all neat rather than a random mess....

Holy!! We could've been great friends when we were little! My teacher eventually figured me out, however. I think I ended up having my desk butted right up next to the teachers desk for most of grade school because I was so "busy" and "bossy" and "chatty", etc...

I used to do this, too!! At first it was just random odd vocalizations that I would utter into the fan and then...... I saw POLTERGEIST!! !! ! After that... it was forever "Steven, look into the light". To this day I have to do it!! Even in the middle of Wal-Mart!! ! 8O

I used to talk into the fireplace because I loved the smell and the sound!! I hated the bits of creasote that would fall onto my head, however. I think it is GREAT that you wanted to feed the thing! How fun is that???

I identify with the leaf thing, too. I used to clear out the gutter on the way home from school. It could take me hours to make the 25-30 meter trip from the bus stop to the front door of my house because of all the "grooming" that was required to get there. I still have similar issues today directed towards my own yard! I hand weed everything and can't stand it when there are little "bits" from the trees on the sidewalk. THEY MUST BE REMOVED RIGHT AWAY!! ! I don't freak or anything, but I can't concentrate on much else until they are gone....... :?

This thread is so much fun, by the way! I love everyone's crazy tales from childhood!! Where were all of you when I was in school? I would've had some friends!! !!

Until I was 11, I use to mimic Sesame Street characters voices. I liked that show for too long.... I was Ernie, Grover, Big Bird, Bert, Cookie Monster, The Count.... I could go on.

I did the same thing. I would always say things into it so I could hear my voice because it sounded weird. My brothers did the same too. Except it was fans that you plug into the wall.

I did just the same, I even enjoy it now.
And if I was on a bus I used to lean my head against the window and go "aaaaaa" because I liked how my voice vibrated

I did the fan thing. I also did/can do this thing where I send air through my mouth in such a way that my cheeks vibrate and I love making tunes that way lol. It's hard to describe but fun.

I also spent time infront of the mirror making faces at myself and learned how to do some fun things with my face muscles lol like I can wrinkle the tip of my tongue into a clover shape and I can wrinkle my upperlip into a mustache!

I also used to love to press on the lower part of my eyeball until my vision went black (due to cutting off of circulation I think 8O) and I invented a really cool way to flip your head around so you get dizzy and it makes you stumble around like a crazy person.
