Thankfully I have never been homeless, but I have heard of one useful trick. If the ground is cold get a sheet of cardboard and use that to stop your body touching the ground. It will stop some your heat being lost into the ground and might even make the ground feel less hard.

Diagnosed under the DSM5 rules with autism spectrum disorder, under DSM4 psychologist said would have been AS (299.80) but I suspect that I am somewhere between 299.80 and 299.00 (Autism) under DSM4.

Dude, if you are still online.

I think it would help if we compile some real information about you. If you want help, no need to worry about your pride.

How old are you generally?
Your family situation, do you have ANYONE you know in the area?
Do you have a job?
Are you being kicked out as you have no money or just problems paying bills or what?
do you get into trouble, make too much noise, etc?
Are you overweight and depressed?
Has your life gotten worse in past year or better?

You have computer access somehow... you are remembering your password here. people are here to help each other, but probably better to error on side of getting the story out than just saying simple "help".

And I have little more time now ! !! !! !! !! !! :P
Adult family that cares/can do anything for me: No .
( A female cousin who , as of this writing , has stolen my percentage of some money which should be coming to me , however . )
I'm about 5' 9" , 290-ish pounds .
So...

...To be literal here , first , I can't drive at present . (My liscence expired , I'd have to take drivers' test , etc. , to drive again)
And , once I spent the money I spent it would take to get anywhere , what would I do once I were there ?
I am not ruling moving out-
However , right now , mid-April , I certainly have no dough .
Where is it that you live ?

...REALLY briefly (I am having trouble even signing in! ) , I get SOME medical care and perscription pills - via Medical - that I would , almost certainly , have to leave behind should I immediately hop a bus . With much of my money just going to getting clean clothes , a bag , etc, and getting beyond the SF city line ! :(

I'm trying to be practical here in terms of how we can help.
Hopefully as older men, you guys can take this serous and not as an attempt to brush you off.

The reality is that a lot of people in the USA pay good taxes to help out in situations like what you are in. HOWEVER, The reality is of finding help and getting to a reasonable city and center can be work. Plus there are fun things like paperwork and waiting lists.

1. I agree that you should avoid excessively expensive cities or overwhelmed ones. California is really hurting, and Bay Area is still expensive.

2. The weather is ok, so you can live outdoors on a short term basis - or are you so bad with health and such that this is an issue?

3. I know the stress is hard, we all cope with that here to a degree, and I'm sure your situation is intense. but dropping some weight and such can be a good thing. Always an upside ;) Try not to stress eat junk food and such, try to look at this is an opportunity to put stress and "what do i want to do next" thinking to your advantage.

4. Where do you want to be in one week? Where do you want to be in one month?

I'm sure there are pretty talented researchers here on this forum who can try to work out how you can get from A to B with bas fare. What type of things you need to get free emergency mental health care. Which cities and shelters in those cities can help. What federal assistance you need to apply for and how you can work out things like an address to get your money, etc.

I'm not trying to say it is easy. But these are practical things we can do from the Internet - to help you help yourself. And the more experience we can gain as a group doing these things - the more we can help you the next time in a spot - or the next person in the situation.

With the bad economy, I'm sure there will be more falling through the cracks. I'm sure many are all to aware of the broken family situations out there. And as an Aspie, you might have very bad relations with family and friends.

Look after yourself ASS-P

I have had one thought, if you can not find a homeless shelter which can help you, then you could try asking a member of the clergy or a cop where one is. I would rather ask a member of the clergy than a cop, but a cop might know where the shelter is if you end up in a new town which you do not know well.

I know that cops have not always got a reputation as the most caring, touchy feely people but a person who works on the streets is likely to know where everything is in a town.

But if you do go and try to ask a cop for the way to the nearest shelter, be careful not to make the cop panic by doing anything which they might think is threatening. Like do not suddenly stick your hand in your pocket.

...In speaking about my health , please allow me to start with this---
I have adult onset diabetes , and get , from Medical , diabetes pills .
The " conventional wisdom " would be , I would suppose , that I should continue to take them for the rest of my life .

...I get those diabetes pills from the SF Gen Hosp. program , where I also get:
those Tylenol clone/codeine pills I mentioned , and at least some care for my foot wounds - Which have been around in some way or another for at least three full years , they have never healed totally , IIRC , in all of that time .
And , as of to-day , the bandages wore off of them , and SF Gen wasn't able to re-bandage - or clean - them to-day , and I took extra pain pills , and the possibility of getting hooked is starting to worry me .
