Yes, I walk fast too. In public places I often find myself passing most people. I never really gave "fast walking" any thought until I read this discussion. At shopping malls (which I can handle as long as they aren't too busy and noisy) I find myself moving at a very swift pace. I can recall that when I am with my family I move at their pace, but as soon as they say, "meet us back at the entrance at (whatever time)," I am off like a jet taking off from an aircraft carrier as I traverse from store to store. I just cannot make myself slow down. To ,move slow just does not feel natural for me.

You just came out of the closet. I have considered teraphy on this matter.
I can almost hear myself; hi, my name is mosez, and I'm a fast walker..

Hi mosez---I haven't heard from you in awhile. I hope all is going well for you. I might add that my father always seems to walk fast too. My grandfather on my mother's side was a very slow walker. I can remember when I was growing up we would go to a store, and we would walk just a little bit and look behind us and he would be like a hundred feet back.

My mother used to drive me crazy, cause she is a window shopper. I loathed going anyplace with her, because she would dawdle and stop to peer into every store window, or worse, go inside and meander up and down the aisles without buying anything. :x

LOL. I've noticed a *lot* of symptoms in my mother and she walks super fast. As a kid me and my brother couldn't keep up with her and had to practically run everywhere.
I don't walk fast at all, I'm very self-conscious about my walking style. I used to get scolded for "not walking normally".

Not that I'm aware of. I think I'm on the slow side, actually.
Lack of energy + habit of shuffling + slightly overweight + (when going somewhere, but not all the time) trace like state and/or enjoying scenery or whatever = slow.

Just so happened, my friend that my reply to you was to be my 500th post to this forum. I've been real busy, spent much time on utube and releasing my new website, wich is somewhat related. You can watch my works by visiting http://staale.weebly.com/.
Good to hear from you again, though. I've been in a slow, regarding to WP, kind of idle. No good questions on my mind, and perhaps not paying attention to any good topic raised as well.
As Arnold would have said: I'll be back.

I walk really fast:) It's annoying at school, when you have a gang of people in front of you who are linking arms and all that rubbish, taking up the whole corridor, and I'm behind them with "Corridor rage" LOL at having to go so slowly, and at other times, everybody complains that I walk to fast then.

Extremely. I rarely enjoy being in transit from one location to another so I try and keep the time spent doing so to the minimal.

if i am not distracted i walk rapidly.
when i am distracted i walk slowly and stop to think.

the night before last, me and my g/f went to the supermarket to find if there was any orange cake mix we could buy.

there was no cake mixes that were orange flavored. she said that there were pre baked cakes up the front of the supermarket (200 feet away) and i did not want to get a pre cooked cake (they are cold and i like to eat cakes hot)

but i said i would go with her to the front of the supermarket. we started walking, and she was walking fast and confident. i overtook her because i accelerated my walking speed.
then she accelerated and overtook me.
i turned right down an aisle that i reasoned would be a route to the front store cakes, and she went another way. she looked at me with a funny grin as if to say "i'll be at the cakes before you!!".
with this thought in my mind, i started running and then i turned left, and there was tammy running too. so i went ballistic to get to the cake section before her and she also ran at her top speed.

then we noticed that there were security guards that were running after us too.
it was difficult to explain why we decided to run at top speed in the supermarket, but they let us go

Lol, I'm the same way. It seems like such a waste of time to walk so slowly when you could walk somewhere quickly and not be late. When I'm in front of slow-walking people I tend to swerve impatiently, trying to find a gap so that I can overtake.
Supermarkets are the worst place; people walk so slowly when they're shopping. It makes the whole experience even more unbearable. :wall:

Everyone always tells me I walk fast. I do it because I see no reason to walk slow. Or slow-er for that matter. If x > y, then why walk at y speed when you could walk at x speed? Makes no sense to me. I've had a few people tell me that I walk like a "creepy stalker" I dunno if that's related or not.

I walk fast, and being nearly 6 feet tall I also have a long stride.

Whenever a slow person gets in front of me and forces me to walk slower I get really annoyed and suffer from stim-deprivation :x

Quite often when I'm walking behind someone they keep turning back and looking at me, then sometimes walk quicker and quicker. I automatically walk quicker because I generally like to walk as quick as possible but don't really like overtaking people (it makes me feel like they're watching me and I'm not comfortable with the way I walk.) Do they think I'm stalking them?

Most of the buildings where I live have a square-pattern on their floor, and I always walk on it as if I were a knight on a chess board. Kind of a medium-speed, I guess, only moving one or two squares forward at a time.

When I'm outside, however, I walk much more slowly, especially when I have my backpack on. A professor once told me I walked "like a zombie".
