I was not terribly different, however I did behave in an atypical manner occasionally.

My family describes me as an unusual baby and they have many stories about unusual things I did at that age.

I didn't talk much at all, even though I knew how to. An uncle of mine very often babysat me and my brother. One evening when I was 2 years old, he was babysitting us and my brother had fallen asleep, so it was quiet. I started talking a lot out of the blue and in full sentences and my uncle got really shocked. He had never heard me say anything before and didn't even know I could speak yet, despite having spent a lot of time with me before.

I was always a very quiet baby. I cried less than other babies and I think I babbled less too and after I learned how to talk I just didn't talk much. My parents describe me as an "easy child" for the most part. I didn't require much of their attention and didn't keep them awake or anything and I didn't display the same behaviors as my NT siblings did at that age.

Around age 2, when I'd wake up in mornings with a wet diaper and wanted to wake up my parents, I wouldn't wake them up by talking or crying. Instead I'd climb out of my crib and over to their bed and sat on their face.

Ever since I learned how to move around, I had the tendency to make myself disappear. I'd crawl under bed or other furniture where I seemed to seek quietness and dark. Sometimes it was hard to find me and one time when I was 1 years old my parents even had the whole neighbourhood looking for me outside, because they thought I had gotten out of the house somehow since they couldn't find me in the house. I turned out to be sleeping far under my bed.

I was an attention-seeker when I was 1 and 2 years oid. I used to demand and pull at my mum if I was getting any attention, and I was always demanding for someone to play with me. That is typical of any child.

I wasn't an easy baby. I used to throw tantrums when my mum sat me in the shopping trolley (which I always see children that age do), and I used to want to sat in the trolley when I got too big (which is typical too).

My NT brother cried less than I did as a baby.

My grandparents were worried that I was deaf because I would sit in corners or something and they would call out for me but I didn't respond. My dad told them that I was ignoring them. :P

I didn't talk until 5 years old. I guess that is a bit of a difference.

I liked to flick baked beans onto the ceiling with a spoon

I liked to sleep under the table

I would run around the table every time I needed a poo

I had lot of ear infection and fevers and my normal development stopped when I was around nine months. I only made sounds and then I stopped over night and I didn't talk until I was four and then I started talking correctly when I was six. I didn't watch TV as a baby and I seemed normal as a two year old when I looked at the videos. I just didn't talk is all and as a one year old I was very quiet and I looked at my dad when he speak but not at my mother. Oh yeah I also wanted my food served a certain way or I'd refuse to eat it and I take a certain step in each room when I enter it. I also wrung my wrists. I was diagnosed as autistic because I showed characteristics of it. I think it was the AS they saw and I was speech delayed despite that they knew I had hearing loss. I guess they expected me to pick up where I left off when I lost my hearing. Then it was changed to autistic behavior when I was four or five because of my hearing loss I had. I think I was eight when the label got erased from me. I also loved to tease when I was a baby. Even at two years old I loved doing things to get a reaction out of people. I have seen it in the videos and it was me climbing on the couch and flipping the light switch because I knew my parents didn't like it and it got me attention so I did it and I always laughed when they yell at me or go "no." I also hated being strapped in but yet I didn't mind being strapped in my car seat. I also did stuff with my hands and liked taking things apart and touching things and seeing how things worked. I wouldn't even be surprised if I show autistic behavior in the videos and I am just oblivious to it because it all looks normal to me. It has shown me wringing my wrists but it seemed normal to me and not abnormal. Mom told me that was me coping with all the noise around me so I always wrung my wrists when I'd feel overwhelmed and I didn't even seemed tense in the shot and I was looking around.

My parents said I hardly cried as an infant and I loved being held. I only cried when I needed something.

I was pretty atypically autistic as a baby. I was good, barely cried, happy, pointed to things, curious about everything, happy to be touched, smiled at my parents etc. The only slightly autistic thing is that I didn't often respond to my name being called, and I stared a lot. But that's about it (that I know of). As a toddler, I was again very curious and interested in everything, very active, some imaginatve play, went willingly to strangers. It was around five that things went a little downhill (in terms of negative Aspie signs).

Got told I was a happy bubbly baby before age 2. Then that's when I started to withdraw and not really care too much about people.
I was pretty delayed in skills but not enough for an autism diagnoses in the late 1980's in a very small town.

I started to speak complete sentences at 13 months. I am not sure precisely how it went down, but some of it was echolalia and some of it was constructing sentences - my first sentence was me asking my mother to let me ride her horse, which was probably not echolalia.

I've been trying to find information on early speech and Asperger's as well as early speech and hyperlexia (my reading ability exceeded my comprehension very quickly, even though I did comprehend a lot - there was no way I understood most of the words I was learning to read and thus use until my actual vocabulary caught up with my reading ability, and this still rises up to bite me occasionally).

Damn, I voted the wrong choice >_<. Anyways, I think this post will compensate that XD. Yes, I was different.

According to my family I was very weeper XD I didn't like to be walked on a baby car and other many popular baby products bothered me. In place of crawling first before walking, I started to walk, of course, with difficulty but before the average month (that I think is the 12th or 11th).

I had many allergies problems and some with the pronunciation of specific letters and words, like the R and C, that I corrected thanks to language therapy a few years after. I had the bad manner to refer me in third person, for example: "Sextus went to the bathroom" when I had to say "I went to the bathroom" .

Well that's all I can remember now.

I was a "colicky" baby...did nothing but scream when I was awake for most of the first year of life, did all my baby stuff, walked and talked early but was obsessive as hell from early on....lined stuff up, everything had to be "Just so" or I had a screaming meltdown. Family doc told my parents I wasn't autistic, just a smart but temperamentally difficult kid, because I had normal language. No such thing as Asperger's back then...got diagnosed as an adult.

I also screamed as if they tried to kill me the first times they put on baby shoes on me.

LOL...my parents told me I did that too, with the shoes. I still hate any kind of shoes except sneakers.

I would cry when I was picked up and stopped crying when you put me down. The doctors blamed my constant crying on colic. I started talking early but took forever to learn to walk. I was also potty trained pretty quickly but so were my younger NT brothers.

I was apparently a terrible baby in that I wouldn't stop crying or sleep, my mother walked the streets with me each night trying to get me to sleep. I walked early. I had a very strange obsession with collecting garden worms from the time I could walk and dug in the garden for them. I carried them around a few in each pocket and my mother put them back in the soil at bedtime. She tried everything to stop me but nothing worked. I could read newspapers before I started kindergarden and went absolutely crazy when I start school, it was like total overload. They (school board) sent me for a detailed assessment but in the early 1960's nobody had heard of AS.
