I love hugs. I thrive on them. When you're my friend, unless you don't like it, I want to give you a hug. If you're not a hugging person, that's fine; I'll just get my hugs somewhere else.

I also love the smell of garlic and onions frying in butter, or even in olive oil. I don't just mean like other people. I will stand over the pan and inhale as if I'm in an opium den and the aromatic roots are the drugs. Garlic and onions, especially with mushrooms, are one of the best smells.

Mint. I love the smell of fresh mint even more than those. Oh, and fresh, well brewed, black coffee.

Warm sheets, or warm clothes fresh out of the dryer.

I also like to surround myself with walls. I'm not so much claustrophobic, as I am socially claustrophobic. It's people around me that's a problem. If it's walls, that's okay, as long as I know a way out. I love tunnels for the same reason. I used to have futon mattresses and matching pillows. I'd set up the pillows on one of the mattresses, then set the second mattresses on the pillows, then get inside and pretend that it was either a coffin or a cave. I really scared my older sister one time when she came to my room to get me for supper and found me asleep in there.

In fact, I was feeling pretty on edge earlier today and sat in our recliner with a blanket over my head. I haven't done that in years. It was really comforting.

raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens....
(not true actually!)

crunching dry leaves under my feet,
pressure on my eyes when I go to sleep,
twirling soft silky hair,
gently rocking on my chair,

these are a few of my favourite things

When in doubt, ask an autistic. Chances are, they're obsessed with what you need to know.

Air-conditioning after coming in out of the heat. And when it gets too cold, going back out in the heat. Valour blankets. Holding and kissing babies...their breathing and cooing. Their soft baby hair. I had a cat that liked its palms rubbed. It would retract its claws and all for a little cat-palm massage. I found this strange. No other cat liked it. I have the scars to prove it.

I don't know if this counts, but there are some kinds of music that really affect me, like power chords (but only in classical music) and minor chords. I could listen to that sort of thing all day.

my favorite sensation is being very tired and "scratchy brained" and then flopping into my bed in a warm room in the dark at 4am when i am spent.

i slide into extremely refreshing sleep almost immediately when i am that tired.

The lived-in smell of my favorite quilt.

The smell of my favorite perfume (Venice).

The pressure of the lead apron at the dentist's office.

The smell of an infant's hair.

The smell of bread baking in the oven.

The sight of a beautiful sunset (or sunrise).

The sound of carefree laughter.

The taste of real butter.

The sight of a heavy snowfall blanketing the trees first thing in the morning, before the wind, sun and wildlife disturb it.

The texture of noodles in my mouth.

Just to warn you some of these may be really gross or weird
I usually don't tell people about these, but I figure it's okay here:

the smell and taste of grape flavored things
giving foot massages with lotion
the infomercials where they wipe a dirty spot and they make it real clean with one wipe
a cat meowing and purring
cutting my nails
I usually like when people change looks of a room
rearranging songs on my iPod or other things
cleaning other people's houses or dishes
having my back tickled with long nails
popping my own zits or black heads
I like picking my nose
Cleaning out my ear
the smell of my own farts (I think everyone does)
I like observing finger prints
I LOVE taking pictures of strange things like insects, plants, close ups of animals(like their eye or claw)
I like picking my lips or scabs
I love the smell of chlorine
I like food really spicy and I like the burn it puts in my mouth
Cats rubbing against me
Dogs hugging my leg, but when they start humping I knock them off
Pigeons cooing
Dogs moaning
Petting any kind of smooth fur
The smell of leather

There lots of strange sensations I like.

MY FAVORITE SENSATION IS SILENCE!! !

the smell of puppies
cool breeze on a warm day
the smell of rain (also soil and potatos)
getting a shampoo at the salon
clean sheets(smell and feel)
cracking my knee joints
sound of thunder
sound of windshield wipers( makes me feel comforted for some reason)
smell of bleach(reminds me of summer at the pool)
smell of turpentine(reminds me of art school)
sound of breeze in trees( Don Juan in Carlos Castaneda books said this was how trees "talked"- I've always liked the imagery)
sound of the surf(this I read was the answer to the zen koan-what is the sound of one hand clapping?)
Everyone has favorite sensations but some of us really focus on them and relish them-one of the gifts of A.S. I think

me and my friend wrestle, and i loose intentionally so that he will pin me to the floor
he keeps me there while he brags, so it lasts awhile

I love that too. I love hugging or stroking any animal.

I love hugging big dogs. That sounds strange, I know, but I do. There is something so trippy about a large, wolf-like dog letting you hug him. Sometimes there is this black Alsatian where I work on Tuesdays, and he loves attention from humans...and he will happily sit with me for ages while I hug him and stroke him. It's almost meditative.
