What are the physical characteristics of autism and aspergers? I am tall skinny with pale skin and i have dark skin under my eyes. What unique features do you guys and gals have?
yup, same

i'm tall (6'2'', from my mother's side oddly enough)
skinny (though somehow i weigh like 180 lbs)
dark circles (is sleeping problems a typical Aspie trait? that might be why)
blue eyes (obviously not a determining trait, but hey, they're pretty blue lol)

1. The ring finger is just as long, or longer than the forefinger.
Yes.

2. Big head

No idea.

3. The eyes stand further away from each other than average

No idea.

4. Heart problems

No.

5. Intestinal problems/digestive problems/ constipation

No.

5. Above average distance between the toes.

No.

Extra sign: Many people with an ASD have had a hard delivery, which is caused by a lack of physical ''communication'' and collaboration with the mother.

No.

I've just measured my index finger and my ring finger and the ring finger is about 4 mm longer than the index finger. The index finger just looks longer my ring finger due to their positioning on my hand, I guess. So ignore my previous post. :P

Ring finger very much longer...I don't think I have a big head but have been accused of such....heart trouble yes...stomach trouble yes...toes not sure whats average but noticeable spaces between them. I'm tallish just under 5'8 and very pale. I have dark circles under my eyes as do most of my kids.

How widely spaced are "widely spaced toes"? You know what that could be from is ASD people not tolerating constrictive shoes. A lot of people's toes squish together, and it's because of their shoes.

anyone else walk with their toes pointed outward? (or inward, for that matter?) just a thought.

(already answered checklist, previous post. many of those physical traits apply.)

1. The ring finger is just as long, or longer than the forefinger.
On my left hand no, but on my right hand yes.

2. Big head

Yes, in baby photos but not anymore.

3. The eyes stand further away from each other than average

kinda

4. Heart problems

I've had problems but nothing that involved going to the hospital about

5. Intestinal problems/digestive problems/ constipation

A big yes.

5. Above average distance between the toes.

I think so.

Extra sign: Many people with an ASD have had a hard delivery, which is caused by a lack of physical ''communication'' and collaboration with the mother.

Well I was dying in the womb and had to be removed via cesarean a few weeks early.

Mine point inward, the toes are longer and they're flat. Kids used to say I had alien feet.

4. Heart problems

1. Even on one hand, ring finger is longer on the left hand.
2. Yes. US cap size = 8.
3. Not applicable/not noticeable.
4. Minor.
5. All of the above in spades.
6. Not applicable.

I don't know that there is sufficient evidence to apply physical characteristics to the spectrum.

1. The ring finger is just as long, or longer than the forefinger.

My ring fingers are about 1-2 cm longer than my forefingers. I am male.

2. Big head

My head is enormous.

3. The eyes stand further away from eachother than average

Almost the opposite. I have that "right side of face crushed in" look like Kim Peek, and it makes it so that my right eye is almost in the center of my face.

Also, I have malformed outer ears, unusually short hands and feet, and teeth that my dental hygienist claims are unusually thick. She tells me that she has never seen another person with teeth like mine.

My eyes are also very deep-set.

I have all of the above except for the "above average distance between the toes" but that could be due to the fact that I grew up in a period where the fashion for women was to squeeze your feet into very narrow shoes with pointed toes. To make matters worse, I got hand-me-down shoes from my aunt, they were so beautiful, but a size too small.
