My EQ score is 103 points lower than my IQ score (stanford-binet).

I scored a 55, and found myself struggling with the picture questions. My biggest struggle was apathy. It's as if my mind finds feelings to be generally unimportant. I don't like that about myself.

55. And who the @#*! is Sally again?

Maybe the worst part is that I have a degree in psychology.

It appears that I could join MENSA, but am unable to have a simple conversation. Wait, that's true.

What do you think Ellen was most likely feeling at the moment this picture was taken? (Ellen is the woman in the pink shirt)

She had the facial expression I associate with someone being thoughtful, in the sense of musing about something... wait, that isn't an option. Can't I just ask her?

Chilly? These questions are like Larry King! What possible relation does this have to emotional intelligence?

A lot of these questions seem to be cultural... not good.

Asides from that, here are my results:

Snapshot Report
Self-report Component
Subscale IQ score = 102
Subscale percentile = 58

According to your self-report answers, your emotional intelligence is slightly below average. People who score like you do feel that their ability to understand and deal with their own emotions and those of others is just barely acceptable. Emotionally intelligent people have an easy time overcoming difficulties in their lives and they are generally able to control their moods. It’s easy for them to motivate themselves to overcome obstacles and reach their goals. In addition, they find social interactions to be quite easy and fulfilling, for several reasons. They are comfortable allowing themselves to get close with others, and feel comfortable being vulnerable enough to establish intimacy. They also report having an easy time offering support to others; likely due to an empathetic nature and a solid ability to offer advice. Perhaps by working on your problem areas, you can become more confident in dealing with your own emotions and those of others.

But I don't 'feel my ability to understand and deal with my own emotions and those of others is just barely acceptable'.

Mine is now 104. Last year at this time it was around 40 (the three times I took it then). I guess I don't have AS after all, it must have been a combination of INTJ, shyness, a mini-depression and just a weird-musician brain.

I think some of this score change must also have to do with reading books on body language, "The Secret" and also getting over my shyness with women by just taking risks and reading dating advice available on the net. Put it this way people around me have noticed a change, and when I go out in public I get a very different reaction than in former days when I had poor posture and a defeatist look on my face. I also pay attention like crazy to eye contact which I never used to do.

Or perhaps I'm really Aspie and some Aspies can improve a lot if they try? Anyone else with anecdotes about extreme shifts in EQ scores?

Well the curiosity was getting to me so I paid for the paid one.

Overall results
IQ score = 113
Percentile score = 82

113

You had an average score on this assessment, indicating that both your self-report and ability scores were in the mid-range. You appear to generally be able to accurately recognize the emotions of others, manage your own feelings and know how best to approach others in an empathetic manner. Moreover, you accurately perceive your abilities in this area. This is key to improving your abilities even more, as knowing your strengths and problem areas can help you know which areas you need to concentrate on.

My EQ is 55. Not very surprising. I read the sample report and I basically have no strengths, emotionally.

According to your self-report answers, your emotional intelligence is somewhat poor. People who score like you may at times feel that they have trouble dealing with their own emotions and those of others. They sometimes struggle to overcome difficulties in their lives and they are not always able to control their moods. It may be hard for them to understand how best to motivate themselves to overcome obstacles and reach their goals. In addition, they find social interactions difficult at times, for several reasons. They may have trouble allowing themselves to get close with others, finding it difficult to be vulnerable enough to establish intimacy or perhaps lacking understanding of, or comfort with, social interactions. Perhaps by working on your problem areas, you can become more confident in dealing with your own emotions and those of others.

Seeing as how this test doesn't seem to be normed (What's the probability a person would score within the .1 percentile on two different indexes? Close to zilch.), I took the privilege of gathering scores online to get a sense of the score distribution for each score index. Looking at the score patterns, it looks like "Self-report" is the only index that's normed.

I got this result on the EQ test.
IQ score = 116
Percentile score = 86
Does this mean my EQ is 116, and what is percentile score?
