This is the Mandelbulb. I found the picture on skytopia. I was surprised to learn that most people seem to have quite strong reactions to it, they either love or hate it. I wonder which camp we Aspies fall into; does our bias for local processing have an influence? Note: I did not create it, you can give your honest opinion :-)

I quite like these images. Kind of beautiful.

However, I remember when I was at school I looked at my finger prints through a microscope and it made me sick. It looked like a weird alien landscape and I could see my pores! It freaked me out for years thinking about it.

I also looked at my knuckles through a microscope and they look less freaky but they looked like a vast mountain range.

i didn't really like it, it looks stretched at the edges and i was wondering what kind of lazy architect would leave his work this way....the colour is creepy. my son on the other hand loved it. he says it's like a strange castle for seahorses.

For me, both pretty and distasteful at the same time.

Looks like it was done in Incendia (fractal generating software) One of my special interests is fractals. This one is pretty nice. I like the ones with a real organic feel to them.

My website has a bunch of fractals on it:

Iridescent Dreamscapes

I use Apophysis - it is free, open source software.

Since I am still valiantly ploughing on with my reading H.P. Lovecraft in French, I like to imagine that this is an example of the patterns on the terrible jewels that Innsmouth women wore.
