You guys are scaring me a bit!

I seem to have the Aspergian personality profile and a number of the aforementioned physical traits as well.

My face is somewhat more asymmetrical than average; not grotesquesly so. But I would never make it in politics.

My head is decidedly large--hat size about 7 3/4; but then I am also very big boned. The doctor who performed my back surgery said I had the largest vertebrae he had ever seen. This was a surgeon with decades of experience.

Re the downturned mouth: present to some extent also. I have some native american ancestry which may be a factor in this; but dunno. :?:

I'm actually really symmetrical. I've taken pictures of my face straight on and cut them in half and flipped them around and such.

One of my ears is a bit lower than the other, but I cut my own hair in a way that makes it not noticable (thank you artists/cosmologists!) Actually, when I used to wear glasses they had to bend them so they weren't crooked on my face, haha.

You can see in my avatar picture my ears are pretty square, low, and stick out towards the top. I used to buzz my hair pretty close and they were HUGE looking and I got made fun of for it. I used to look like a monkey. But, now I keep my hair a bit longer and it makes the ears look better.

I think I'm pretty adorable. :) Maybe I'm biased.

Again from this page

Aside from their behavioral symptoms, people with autism have often been described not only as normal in appearance but as unusually attractive. They are certainly normal in stature, with normal-to-large heads

on being limber, I am an excellent climber and can get myself into places never thought possible. As a kid, I loved rock climbing with the Boy Scouts. These days, you can find me climbing up on scaffolds and catwalks in theaters, shimmying under buildings to pull wire, and other odd and unusual places. I'm a rather small, skinny dude, and am extremely flexible. Although I'm not very strong, I have good "power to weight"

Thanks for the florideois information; I also thought that the boy sitting next to the baby was the one with Aspergers. I'm also a mouth breather.

One of my eyes looks bigger than the other. I have ears not connected to my head. My head and hands are VERY tiny as are all my features.
PDD-NOS son has low, curled ears. Kids tell him his ears are "cute." He drools.

Really interesting about the ears - my left ear sticks out while my right ear doesn't. When I was a kid they thought I must have pulled on my ear alot and made it that way. They tried taping it back to fix it (didn't work). My glasses also don't quite sit right because my left ear is lower than my right - so I bend the glasses too. My son (with HFA) however seems to have symmetrical ears - I just went and checked. He thought it was weird and covered up his ears (lol).

Working in scientific research, naturally this thread interested me. There is a lot of anecdotal evidence saying us ASD people tend to be more attractive with softer features, though again this is anecdotal. The studies I'm aware of that looked morphological features outside the brain found increased posterior ear rotation (fancy terming for ears sticking out), reversed 2nd to 4th digit ratio (ring finger longer than index finger, associated with increased fetal testosterone levels), hypotelorism (eyes closer together), and increased head circumference, although this is more pronounced in children as the total brain volume tends to equal out more into adulthood (the theory is early overgrowth). I haven't heard of the "moebius mouth," although there is a high concordance of people with Moebius Syndrome who are also ASD.

From the images i have seen, people with AS are more attractive than the average person. The physical traits i have noticed large head, aesthetic jawline, large eye sockets.

Nothing like the stereotypical profile of somebody with Autism.

And yes i have those features aswell.

paulsinnerchild - I came in a bit late, but guessed right on the pic. I noticed the expression is very similar to the expression that is usually on the face of an autistic girl at my work. I can usually spot if a kid in a pic is autistic immediately, it's kinda strange.

I couldn't do a the splits a year ago but now I am getting very close.

Take up yoga, it helps with both strength and flexibility :)

I'm afraid this is not correct:
http://www.rdos.net/eng/aspeval/#196

The trait has insignificant AS-NT correlation and no loading on any major axis in factor analysis.

Doesn't this mean the fetal testosterone-theory is also incorrect?

a lot of the people posting pics of themselves do not look like they have the classical autistic characteristics. from what others have posted in paulsinnerchilds topic post, it doesn't seem like there is an agreed consensus regarding who looks autistic. i'm not certain whether i have these classic characteristics or not. my ears are kinda big, slightly squarish, and my mouth corners may have an autistic appearance. but family members of mine have similar features and they most certainly are not autistic.
