Autreat's website is here: http://www.autreat.com/

Autreat happens every year, at the end of June. You can go to Autreat next year, if you want to.

Where in the UK do you live?
(there are aspie gatherings in London, in Somerset, and in other areas in the UK).

The length of an afternoon is a nice period of time to spend in the company of others.
If you live within 50-100 miles from London, you can go to the WP meetings in London: http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt109104.html

I attended a local support group meeting twice and as far as support groups for Aspies around here are concerned, this one appears to be the only game in town.

For reasons having nothing to do with me and everything to do with some EXTREMELY ugly truths about the group leader/founder, I never went back a third time.

Yay! :D You are going to enjoy it.
I went to Autreat 2007 and to Autreat 2008. I am not going this year, just because it is too far for me. (a 12 hours flight to New York, then a 10 hours greyhound to Buffalo, then a few hours greyhound to Autreat).
Autreat 2010's presentations' schedule is here: http://www.autreat.com/aut10presentations.html

How far is Canterbury from London? I would say about ninety minutes on a coach, if I remember correctly. It doesn't seem too far to me.

Thanks! I'm especially looking forward to seeing Amanda Baggs in person. She's a brilliant advocate, and her Youtube videos are also very insightful.

Yes, Amanda Baggs is a brilliant advocate. I met her at Autreat 2008.
She also posts on WrongPlanet quite a lot, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to reveal her user's name.

I second that. I've never met a female Aspie in person.

ehh neurotypicals and aspie males are alike all they care about is looks :x

im just kidding i know not ALL of them are but it seems like the majority of the human species is and its frustrating for for the aspie with the double disadvantage of not too kind on the eye looks and the aspieness.

The last time I went to a meetup with aspie strangers, we all played scrabble and had a barbecue. There was an autistic guy there named Frank who hit on all of the girls. Frank sported oversized gray gym shorts, an anime t-shirt, and a blonde ponytail. While standing, his legs were always a little too far apart. His arms stayed at his sides while walking as if he was lugging around invisible shopping bags. He chewed food with his mouth open and spoke to us while eating. Tiny pieces of saliva-covered food landed on us occasionally. Frank proceeded to tell us in agonizing detail about every television show and movie he liked. As it turned out, the list was quite formidable and his memory and knowledge of this particular subject was unrivaled. The volume of Frank's voice overpowered others and it was hard to get a word in edgewise.
