I like it... somehow it feels like a term of endearment rather than a slur/insult.

I don't mind Aspie though I didn't like it at first.

I neither like nor dislike the term "aspie," but prefer the abbreviation "AS."

The thing I don't like about "Asperger's Syndrome" is that there is no formal nominal (noun) or descriptive (adjective) term to facilitate its use in conversation. I cannot say "I am aspergic," because no one would know what I'm talking about and it sounds ridiculous anyway. "Aspie" fills one of these roles, and I honestly think it's adorable. That said, it is still informal.

For these reasons, I prefer to say that I am autistic these days. Autism is a more elegant and professional sounding word; I like the way it vocalizes. It also nullifies the ridiculous "ass burgers" joke. If only Hans had had a different surname.

AS is going away as a separate and distinct diagnosis in the DSM-V anyway, so it makes sense.

No, not at all. Nor do I like the term "Aspergirls" I don't know why. I just don't. It makes me cringe when I read/hear it. I prefer the words as they are; autism and Asperger's Syndrome.

Aspie is degrading and I didn't like it.

But now there is no such thing as Asperger's Disorder only Autism Spectrum Disorder so it's become moot now.

I prefer the term "autistic psychopath" myself. Puts the fear of god into god fearing people. After all the devil is in the details. Buahahahahahaha

I don't care. The only people, in my experience, who use that term are autistic people here on this and other mental health related forums. My psychiatrist and therapist don't use it. Nor does my family. I am indifferent to it.

I don't like it either, but I only use it because its shorter. When I first heard of it, it made me think of how Justin Bieber fans call themselves "Beliebers" for some reason. Idk something about it sounds immature to me i guess.
