Ocean surf..agreed.

Cicadas at night here in Texas

For some reason, I also like the sound of people stirring downstairs when I'm laying in bed

listening to my late mother's washing machine, i kept hearing "pizza-pizza-pizza-pizza" as it was agitating the load back and forth. my mother claims it was going "poonta-poonta-poonta" instead.

My favorite sounds are:

thunders
explosions
artillery shots
metal chimes
crashes
breaking glass
various animal sounds

Naturally, most of those sounds are pretty hard to come by in daily life and they don't usually last for very long, but I love hearing them and if I come across good recordings of any such sounds, I repeat them all the time.

Sometimes my cat purrs so hard she snorts like a little pig. I like that sound. :)

You should see her vigorously clean my son's head. He's her kitten.

i'd be careful with that cat's tongue, which like with all cats, is designed to rasp the flesh off of bones.

Re: Train sounds, I live in a train town and often when I get up around 5:30 a.m. I can hear the sounds coming from the train yards. They are atonally beautiful. They almost sound like an orchestra tuning up.

For me, it its all about when to expect these sounds. I enjoy many of the sounds mentioned here, but only in their natural environments. For example, running water is awesome and soothing outside near a river but the sound of pouring water in an office environment makes me angry and makes me want to smash something!
