The Aspie Women Photo Calendar
Ironic. I've had no problem expressing my disdain for the way you would like aspie women to be depicted. If you have a problem with being labelled a creep.. perhaps you need to grow a thicker skin instead of giving yourself an out by saying "You're just being PC!".
There is no way around that the qualifications for who is or would be a creep or not, like PC, is value judgment that may fly in the face of tollerance, another and loftier value.
Color me dense now, but just what are those stereotypes?
What could be more liberating than to actually mock them?
And is there no truth at all in the stereotypes, however unkind they may ever be?
But I thought Aspies tend to objectify everyone!
Seriously though, all first impression is objectification to selfish desires. (Ew, back off, Fuuck me, please! How droll, amuse me!) But that doesn't prevent one from learning more and looking deeper, if only one is so inclined.
And exactly that natural progression is also the key towards engaging presentation biographically no less than with fictional characters. Self censorship even of the most shallow and lurid is just boring, stale and cardboard. The challenge, rather, is to draw the reader into to discovery of whatever runs deeper.
As women we have to deal with being minumalised by sexual ideals daily.. as aspie women it's worse because we have much more complex social limitations than NT women. We don't need anymore.
There may be women here who do modeling- and I think it's fine if they are doing it purely for their own individual expression- but not to fix a stereotype and not because of pressure from guys on a website thats meant to be gender friendly. If however the tall dark and handsome muscular guys here get together and pose for the camera, perhaps with a surfboard and a nice tan, or ripped jeans.. we may consider it.
Whatever floats your boat, dear!

Ok, now hold the phone here a moment....
I'm not going to try and take any sides, I don't wish to make anyone angry at me - I've had one too many painful experiences at message boards that eventually claim I am a loser and reject me. But Donkey, I think calling him names and flaiming him is just going a bit too far. You are completely open to express your opinion, absolutely, but no one should be out to make anyone feel like dirt, like a loser.
For the record, I have talked with Mr. Mark more personally in MSN messenger, and we have talked on many subjects of interest. He is a warm and intelligent individual. And not ONCE did he ever tell me to go on the webcam and take my shirt off or dance around or anything of the sort. Meanwhile I HAVE had guys in there that were a little too interested in seeing me in more nudiful ways, even though they were joking, but Mark has not done this. From what I gather, he is rather wise, and believes in personality, not looks.
I agree with him also that if everyone is always so afraid in offending people, afraid to be politically incorrect, than what happens to freedom of speech, human rights? And what fun would that possibly be? If political correctness was strictly meant to be enforced, do you know that comedians wouldn't have ANY material left? And no more comedy in movies, and forget shows like South Park or Family Guy. I'm not suggesting that people offend left and right on purpose, and don't take me as a hypocrite because I see that Donkey is flaiming MrMark. But all I am saying is that people have a right to express their REAL opinion without having to hurt anyone. Ofcourse I realise some people may have been offended by this topic too, so yes, its quite a controversial issue....
All MrMark is guilty of here is suggesting a controversal but, what has a chance to be, a good idea. Perhaps he has seemed a bit too enthusiastic on the matter and perhaps people have misinterpreted his idea into that he must be a perv, and certainly some of his recent posts that are all in this fashion must look a little suspicious. And yet, when I've talked to him, he never made me feel like an object and his interests would suggest that he couldn't possibly be a bad person.
But now I'm going back to hide in my box, because I ain't touching this topic anymore, not even with a 500 foot poll. *hides*
Hmm, yeah, it's like, let's make a calendar with photos of Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, Steven Spilberg, Nikola Tesla, Isaac Newton and others. Throw in a short biography that shows their aspie side and I'll be more willing to pay for it than for an aspie girls calendar.
And for the record, I know there are many beautiful aspie women.
I wouldn't mind seeing a calendar of hot women that many Aspie men are turned on by/big fans of: Majel Barrett as Nurse Christine Chapel, Nichelle Nichols as Uhura, Marina Sirtis as Troi and Jeri Ryan as Seven of Nine from 'Star Trek', Gillian Anderson from 'The X-Files', Jennifer Garner from 'Alias' (well, that covers six months right there)... you get the idea. It'd also sell like hotcakes to NTs!
This completley backs up my comment.
If you want to cream your pants go look at porn or get some sex for crying out loud. Aspie women aren't here to live out your fantasies. (lame ones at that).
Also, what do you mean by cute? You only want aspies to be in it that make you hard? That completley defeats any decent purpose this idea might have (if any).

Oh hale_bopp, not here to live out my fantasies? Oh, tosh! Your no fun any more!
-Mark
Have you any idea how poisonous all of that sounds?
So, are you bent upon forging ahead by brushing aside all debatable, crucial and politicized central questions of strategy and values? Indeed, will policy be decided covertly? How very effective! Not.
Surely, if ever, a classic patronizing and manipulative social power play and conduct most unbecoming an Aspie!
Otherwise, as you have put yourself in charge (not in and of itself any particular problem), kindly do explain yourself.

Well, you see, I’m not always clear and specific about what I think is really important. It’s kind of like that Zen Buddhist concept of direct action, being what you are instead of talking about what you are. At this point, it’s not very important to me whether we do a calendar or not. It’s the conversation that I think is important. That’s why I honestly and sincerely express gratitude to everyone, not just the people whose opinions I like, for their participation. Saying “thanks” is intended to encourage people to continue to participate. Perhaps it’s not serving its intended purpose. You see, your input has helped me to consider something I had not before, so I am truly grateful for it. Like many aspies, I’m open and honest and occasionally blunt and often naïve. People have been telling me all my life, “Mark, you’re smart enough to know better.” There seems to be a certain amount of cynicism about me among some members at WP. More striking similarities to NTs. What should I do? Should I fly off the handle and resort to the tactics of the flamers? Should I run away and hide and let the bastards win? I think my best course of action is to continue to be open and honest and sincere (and a little naïve) and let the chips fall where they may. WP has helped fill the void left by my wife. I feel happy again and not nearly so lonely, it's like I found my family, "My People!" Most of you are very kind and thoughtful people and I feel very lucky to have met you. I sincerely hope that I’ve adequately explained myself, and look forward to more constructive criticism and feedback in the future.
-Thanks again for helping to make this such a vibrant and interesting discussion,
Mark
"Anyways, I remember someone making comments on me looking good in a dress back in my school's Drama course. I could always pose if you want. I'm sure an underage, crossdressing Aspergian would sell millions of calenders."
You’re in.
"All together now, to the Wendy's "hot & juicy" jingle:
"Hot & creepy, hot & creepy!""
All right. I’m now claiming copyright on that phrase.
"I just think this is an obvious excuse to get others to pose for a calender so the guys here can wet themselves."
We’ll make it 50/50 men and women. Then we can all wet ourselves.
"If there IS gonna be a female calendar, there better be a male one too!"
We’ll alternate months and just have one calendar.
"if the aim was not to be sexy, but to be cute, pretty, or natural."
Why can’t we be all four!?
"Also, in each one, we should throw in a couple of self-proclaimed "hideous people""
Works for me.
"But WAIT! There's more! Call to order this Calendar collection RIGHT NOW and you'll also recieve Aspie Calendar: Nice Guys Edition, featuring all of WP's most adorably spineless nice guys, and Aspie Calendar: Prozac Edition. (Possiblesideeffectsmayincludelossofscalpandpenis.) BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET! Call RIGHT THIS SECOND and you'll also recieve this EXCLUSIVE Aspie Calendar: Fetish Edition! You haven't seen pr0n like this before! This exclusive expanded edition features such never-before-seen-collections as "Asexual Aspies in Sexual Situations!", "MrMark & His Jester Hat," and of course, "Emp & A Nun Doing The Nasty While Debating About Religion.""
sweet
"... come to the realization that there probably are going to be people that do some pretty "inappropriate" things while looking at your picture."
Yes, and if you can’t handle the idea, don’t sign the waiver.
"I’d like to nominate Alex, CockneyRebel, Solidess, and Juliekitty if they are willing to serve. "
Dunno. I think maybe I just want to yap my opinions on the forum, and provide cheesecake.
"I personally favor 6 women and 6 men"
Yay. What could be fairer?
First of all, the whole sexism discussion on this is completely out of hand, considering women have been considered objects for thousands of years and most aspies bring equality forward, not backward. But I would not buy a calender with women for their personality. Also, I would not buy a monthly calender for biographies. It would have to be 365 women, cute(not sexy, and for me there is a difference) and with a biography. This wouldn't happen, thus the idea would be null.
