In the description that I posted above I only made a brief comment on the fact that we are alleged to have the smaller chins that would result in patrician features common to Western depictions of angels. And, yes, it is probably true that many aspies do not have these patrician facial features. I can see that just by looking at some of the pics in the post a pic thread. But what about the rest of it? The detached body posture, the reduced facial expression, the extraordinary cognitive abilities that we cannot help but express through our facial expressions, body language, and quirks, those traits would also create an appearance of being physically and psychologically or intellectually removed and therefore transcendent of our surroundings. These are qualities of physical and psychic transendence that are often attributed to angels in folklore and media depictions. I'm sorry for repeating myself, and I won't do it again in this thread unless someone else seems interested in the subject, but I do think that, given these qualities, we resemble Western artistic or media depictions of angels.

Further to the above, I have an underbite i.e. my jaw extends forward such that my bottom teeth come in front of my top ones. It's a family thing, my uncle has the same.

Not much chance of angelic looks here.

My ears don't flop over but my mouth turns down. People tell me I look worried most of the time. Probably because I am. I don't smile much even if I'm happy and it bothers other people more than it does me.

I remember reading a long time ago that autistic children are often very beautiful.

The description you give of "angelic" appear to me to be more,"zen" like...though, its true ,you dont see many angle depictions that are grinning.I dont recall ever hearing comments from NTs about angels looking like their dog died or that they need a large dose of Prozac...I have seen classic art with pictures of angles who looked inraged or destressed and I think aspies show those emotions on their faces...?I think their is some hystorical validity of perceiving some individuals with mental illness as "other worldy....blessed by the gods...in touch with the spirit world"but I dont know of any references about people with autism having these qualitys and I'm afraid..."hystoricaly", that such people may not have survived....being nonproductive was ussually a death sentence...(thinking specifically of ancient Greece..perhaps other societys were more compassionate?)

I think that some actors have the same body language and facial expression that I think aspies have that connote this angelic presence. For example, I think Kevin Spacey has the qualities I'm talking about.

Let's see... I look pretty much normal except for the fact I'm pigeon-toed. I didn't really develop this until kindergarten and I think it's beginning to go away (at least that's what my mom says). But no one really seems to notice. I also have to tilt my head slightly to my left because of my right eye (I have no idea what's wrong with it but I can barely see out of it so yeah). A few years ago, I had a friend and she was looking closely at my eyes and she said my right eye looked like it was moving upward but my left eye was still looking straight. We're thinking it's probably a lazy eye or something. But you don't even notice unless you look extremely closely. Before she mentioned it, I never even saw that in my life. But as it turned out, she was right.

i got the big head thing going on. get told all the time that i look sad or mad... i really hate that one, it makes me mad! not sure about my gait but i know it took me many, many years to figure out what to do with my arms when i walk :( , now i just ignore them and don't care. i like to walk fast and have been accused of trying to look important by walking so fast  oh yes, the corners of my mouth are a bit lower.

I can see by old photographs that even as a child I often had a faraway look, especially in situations where my senses were overloaded. There is one pic of me at a christening and I look spaced out and detached from everyone in the room. LOL. No wonder the British relatives think I'm weird.

I also read somewhere that with some Aspies, the corners of one's mouth may be low in comparison with the center of their top lip. And the top of their ears might be folded over or something. Is this the case with many people?

Towards the bottom.

This is real?! wow... I had no idea...
So now I have seen something scientific, as the tops of my ears are a little bit folded over (unless I am misunderstanding the picture) and my mouth corners droop if relaxed. And here I thought I had a normal face. This is seriously very surprising.

I seem to have a "stiff" body posture. The other day I was in a meeting with some other people. This other person in the room kept commenting, over and over, about how tense my body looked. I finally looked at the person and said, "I have autism and my body posture is different than yours because I have autism." I didn't say these words very well. I was just so angry that this person would take it upon themselves to comment on my body. For cripe's sake, the last thing I need is someone announcing to the room about how my body posture is different than everyone else's. I felt it was an invasion of my privacy.

I really snapped at that person, but why should I have to put up with such ignorance? I hope that person never comments on anyone's body posture again.

Thank you for the links to your site, anbuend.

I was not called "spazzo" "ret*d" and "freak" for nothing when I was younger, I guess. A nice way of putting it was "awkward". I got that, and still do, more times than I can count.
I tried changing the way I walked as a result of many comments from others. It didn't work and I can't be bothered anymore.

I have egyptian eyes (most people in my school think I look like a stoner), elvish ears (not that you can see them I have fairly long hair), and have been told that my facial expressions are hard to read. The three Aspies (myself included) that I know have the young and needs to be looked after appearance. Tall and lanky.

My constant sleep deprivation probably doesn't help my stoner apperance. javascript:emoticon(':)')

at times i get too involved in my interests and forget to shower. so i come to stink.

i think i have a large forehead, but i blame that on the need to store my unusually large brain.

People say that I am different, they just look at me and say that. Sometimes strangers ask "What's wrong with you?" I don't know what's wrong with me. I try hard to look normal. If I tried to look original, I would feel better. I want to look normal. I always have problems with NTs, I cross the street when I see them because I know what they always say, they say "hey, look at that", and they laugh. I don't know the reason, it makes me feel bad.

I was called all sorts of things in school but mainly from the way I moved or talked or held self/face, not from the actual physical shape of my face.
Except fat, because I was a little fat. But that is connected to anxiety and not handling that well, but not exactly DUE TO being autistic... Strangely, as an adult I have often (as now) been properly fat, but in my adult life nobody tells me that, except family.

I think it's just RUDE that strangers would tell some other people that. I mean, how can you know what all is going on physically with a person?!

-----------------

I was actually a little pleased, by now, to find out about the foldy ears and the low-cornered mouth... Earlier I said I was surprised, but I meant, surprised in a good way.
