I hate both extreme hot and extreme cold. I voted for cold, though. At least with the cold you can layer up, and i usually tend to wear lots of clothing anyway. When it's hot out, you're pretty much hot no matter what. And around here heat always comes with lots of humidity, which i also hate. The heat just completely drains me of all energy, and the humidity makes breathing feel strange. At work i know where all the spots are where the air conditioner hits just right, and i often try to find things to do in those areas in order to stay cool. It just seems like it's always burning up in there. It's okay when it's just a little warm out, i just don't like getting all sweaty. The cold i can tolerate really well for short-ish periods of time... But if i stay out in extreme cold for very long it starts get miserable. My nose and lungs start to hurt from breathing in the cold air, and my nose usually starts running.

I dont mind it...if it gets too hot at night, i can lock my door, open my window, close my blinds and sleep in my birthday suit.I dont have to worry about people barging in on me since I pay rent and don't live with my parents. :)

Red Deer has a big fountain spray park near downtown where the locals go and play and cool off.The city also has an outdoor pool downtown as well.I go there a fair bit since I get a student discount when I show my college ID.

I find that I'm happiest when it's low 90s outside.

Humidity is something else, though. But, I grew up in the desert climate.

100s+ are still tough, no matter what.

Cold can be problematic, since it makes me more susceptible to illness. I got sick every winter when growing up, sometimes for months.

High 70's & low 80's with low humidity is my ideal temperature. Although it's been quite cool here in Michigan for July. I don't like extreme cold or heat. Extreme cold brings humidity that is too low. May and October weather usually is my favorite. Except in May I have to deal with allergies.

I love the weather happening now in Michigan. I do not have to turn on the heat or the air. I am saving so much money. Hot weather sucks. Moderate temps are great when you want to save money and feel comfortable.

Woah, resurrection of a three-year-old thread!
The only reason I don't like really hot weather is because my arms are really badly scarred, so I can't wear sleeveless shirts or short sleeves with other people around.
Well, also, I have to be covered at night. But usually just a sheet is okay, so it's not that bad.
I don't like really cold weather, though. Moderate is better, and hot is okay so long as there aren't people around to see my arms.

I'm most comfortable outdoors when it's around 50 degrees (10 C). 70 (21 C) is good indoors. I don't like heat.

This summer's been way too hot for me. It hit 104 (40 C) last week which was the hottest day ever here and it's been at least upper 80s (30+ C) for the past two weeks or so. It's not a super dry heat here either. Not as humid as the midwest but still humid enough to make the nights uncomfortable. It's been pretty miserable for me with no air conditioning.

I was born in a coastal desert zone and largely raised in southern woodland and coastal areas so my body started out in and got very acclimatized to hotter weather.

One thing now is I have Neuropathy in my legs and some trouble with knee joints and unless temp is over 82F, 27C, my legs and knees hurt and burn when exposed to the air, so below those temps long pants are a necessity. Other parts, hands, et cetera, have trouble with pain in cold below 50F, 10C, but I won't bore you with the details.

My brother was born in a northeastern area and prefers colder weather, feels healthier in colder weather too.

Which makes me wonder, could the climate where one is conceived and born set the climate ones body is best suited for :?:

As far as what people like depends on what people experience.

I've lived in Perth for 20 years now and I LOVE the hot summers.

Given 40 does get a little grating mid to high 30's (~95 -> 102) for weeks on end is awesome. Especially when you can knock off of work and head down the beach. (being coastal it's never really more than a 20 minute drive to the beach anywhere in Perth. Best days are when it hits 42 - 43 (107 - 109). Finish work and hit the beach of an evening when it starts to cool down. Of course, the downside is that it never really gets below 25 (77) at night for a few months around Dec, Jan, Feb. Which can be painful for the first week or two.

For comparison for Americans that know climate. I've been told by an american that it's "A little better than living in Phoenix." Whatever that means.

Of course, take my normative descriptions with a grain of salt. I've never seen snow so I am not one to judge for cold weather. I am shivering through the days at the moment and tomorrow is gonna be Min: 8 (46) and Max: 20 (68)

I prefer 70 to 80 degree weather myself, though 80 to 90 degree weather provides good reason for me to go swimming!! :D

I find the opposite of what you say is true for me. Most people seem to prefer it cooler than me. My fingers turn blue in 'pleasant' weather.

I'm a big wuss. Like high 50's to mid 80's mostly, with lowish humidity. I can adapt to hot temps, but I never feel great exercising outdoors when it's hot. I like very cold weather for a few days, but get anxious for it to get warmer after that. Mostly it sucks to have hot flashes during a time of global warming.
