This "weed isn't good for motivation" thing is not true in my personal experience as a toker of 40 years. It is the thing that MAKES me motivated. It also does not make me eat more. In fact, the exact opposite is true: when I smoke a lot I eat LESS. When I stop, I eat MORE. I have known and do know many people who smoke daily who are VERY productive active people. One of them is the local CEO of a large, internationally known non-profit that builds housing for low income people. She and her husband smoke daily and are two of the most active, productive people I know. Those who are un-motivated on weed are probably un-motivated in general. I think it affects people very differently and each person who is so inclined should judge for themselves. If it doesn't work for you, DON"T DO IT. But don't assume that the same is true for everyone else. Also, do not forget why marijuana is illegal: It is a threat to the profits of drug, alcohol and wood pulp industry profits. If health and welfare of the population were the reason, then cigaretts, booze, aspertame and most pharmaceuticals would be off the shelf.
I would like to endorse everything expressed there. And its interesting you say that it makes you eat less. I am the only person i know who does not get 'the munchies'. Possibly because i am the only autistic person i personally know very well. While i am under the influence eating is unimaginable. I have tried it (eating, under influence) a few times, and the entire process is incredibly complicated to me in that state of mind. Occasionally i get hungry in the burn-out phase of the trip, but this is just as likely a result of being basically incapable of consuming food earlier. To avoid this situation i usually eat before partaking of cannabis, which is the opposite of what most people do.
Im also glad you brought up the issue of one of the reasons to illegality. It is abundantly clear the government has no interest in the safety of citizens, unless it happens to be profitable, for which the opposite is usually case. However I'm not one of those people that blames the government for all societal ills, for 'the government' is no more than a gathering of people just like the rest of us, circumstantially in positions of power, which we are relatively complacent with, evident by the fact that the average citizen has no interest in the process of governing, except on election day. But that is an entirely different subject.
