that's definitely wrong......although I do have autism and some kind of daydreaming disease.

The word for autism in Chinese when translated into English literally means "closed self disease". Same idea.......within the self.

I noticed many of my 'self absorbed traits' in myself yesterday when I was at a park with my family.
I greeted people well enough (after much practice - they kiss me on cheek and I let them - I hug but don't kiss back) but after that wasn't sure what to do. I just stood there for a while until people initiated conversation with me.
Then when people talked to me I started ranting about those topics currently on my mind.
There was another family there I didn't know. As I have practised communication with my nephews and nieces I noticed I was comfortable with them but I didn't say anything to the other kids. When I thought about it I thought I wanted to talk to my nephews and nieces, not them.
The father of this family was irritating me with his 'brand wars' talk about mobile phones so I decided I didn't like him. I found it pretty hard to warm to him when I realised he probably wasn't the devil incarnate. The mother I said a few words to but I felt weird around them. Kind of like a cat trying to get away when it doesn't want to be held.
Then everyone was getting excited by a boat ride which looked really boring to me. I stuck with my photography. I wanted to go bush walking but didn't really want to go with anyone. I wanted it to be my alone time.
There's just a feeling of disconnection even when I talk to people. I care more about what I'm saying then what they are, unless they are answering a question to something I had asked. I also get a shock like an electric jolt when someone says something that is completely against what I am. I've got to keep reminding myself other people have their own views and don't automatically know mine.

I'm not full of myself though, narcissistic, etc. It bothers me so much I pretend I like it. It's me and I can't change it, unless I actually take my medication.

I've read most of the thread so now what we're talking about, but I just wanted to share that.

Autism means self condition.
Spectrum means wave length.
Autism spectrum, everyone is different...

I've actually felt selfish and normal when I took ketamine and kava kava, I also know that I use and think in the third person quite a lot because I see other people (and objects) as I see myself. I have a diminished sense of self.

the latest research shows that people with asperger's have too much empathy to cope with.

this may relate to mirror neurons

Aw, well. Both definitions are plausible, I suppose.
