I'm mildly outraged but too ill to care.

Egads, that is hilarious. I have yet to read the entire article but that was actually humorous (unlike the bulk of "stuff" on the web). The diagnosis just being added to the DSM-IV "last Thursday" was great! I was convinced that lampooning was a lost art. 8>

and yeah i hate anyone pretending to have any disorder they dont know what it actually means to have it. there are millions of them and nerely every disorder is mimiced. favorites are "severe" or "deep" depression, bipolar, OCD, borderline, sometimes schizofrenia, and whatever im forgetting. especially bipolar and OCD are the current hypes. i never found asperger being used this way. porbably cause not so many people know it, and its inclearity of what it means.

ED is one of the funniest sites on the internet. And anyone who doesn't believe what the article says is a delusional ret*d.

but this is really stupid. shouldnt it be giving actual information and references about apserger.

I like parody, but the humour in this is just a little too low-end to be good parody. Ideally, in a spoof of this sort, you should be just barely able to detect that you're being put on.

Yeah that site calls itself a parody site but really its just an outlet for people to show their intolerance.. theres really no humor there other than laughing at the persons ignorance its just a collection of bland blind hate rants.

I doubt they'll repent at all, ever, but never mind. I found the site pretty funny - the bit about ASS PIE kids being given to Golden Retrievers was pretty funny, as was the telekinesis. Damn, I wish I could bend spoons!

On the serious side, the very joy of satire is that it has no limits - or shouldn't. Making fun of the disabled, or Aspies, or Obsessive-Compulsives, or anyone else is not doing them a disservice, but actually saying "ok - I'll treat you like I would any other (ordinary) human being". Whilst it is not easy to accept someone ridiculing the very thing that defines your existence, and it is true that we are not by any means "Ordinary" human beings, this satirisation actually moves toward the idea that we should not be treated differently, or be "cured" based on our differences.

That wasn't very eloquent, but point made, I hope.
