Wow, I'm terrified of that too! I've never heard anyone else mention it before. I'm also afraid that people will think I'm a shoplifter because I look so nervous when I'm shopping.

You know, I used to have a fear of this, too, only not from having watched that Simpson's episode...I used to think I was the only one afraid of that happening!

I turned this to my advantage. If you look nervous and carry a large bag in a department store, you will get paid attention to.

Hmm....interesting that no one mentioned public speaking, which terrifies me -- to the point that I took a zero grade on a speech I was supposed to give in a college course because I was too scared to get up and do it. But I guess that one doesn't count. Pretty much everybody hates that.

Yeah, I have no idea why I didn't add this to my list of fears either O.o I guess because it is very common but I most definitely have a public speaking phobia as well and dropped out of my honors English class in high school the same day my teacher told us we'd be giving a speech every month. In previous years, from the day I'd hear we had a speech at some point in class (even if it's not until the end of the year) it would be all consuming until that day. The great thing is, I've never given a bad speech, never been ridiculed for talking in front of the class...never even had a breakdown while giving one so I guess all of my panic was well concealed. ALTHOUGH (rambling here) one time, we were required to give a 30 minute presentation but it was one something of interest to us (11th grade, I think) and even though I was just as nervous and on the brink of insanity as ever during the beginning of my presentation, after about ten minutes, I just went into my normal 'trance' of spouting off nonstop information on atmospheric sciences for what felt like a few minutes but was actually another twenty.

Sharks (Selachophobia). I've had a panic attack at school in front of my whole class because one of my old friends didn't believe me when I said I cry when I see a picture of a shark. She brought up a picture of one on Google and I seriously jumped out of my seat, curled up under the computer counter and started crying a rocking. I've gotten a lot better because my brother and step brother like to make me watch shark stuff on T.V and I like to be scared so sometimes I will look them up and try to look at them and watch a shark movie.

Pool lights [1]. Also drains in pools, tubs or other fixed-position, man-made containers for water, but only when the container is filled with water [2].

So yes, I'm afraid of dunnies and bidets. Go on, laugh it up...

[1] No idea why

[2] Still no idea why. Maybe I was a miniature turtle in my last life and my last owner pulled off my head then flushed the pieces down the toilet?

I dont like spiders.

Actually phobias is or was an advantage. Because a caveman that lived in a jungle and wasn't afraid of say spiders or snakes wouldn live very long. It's survival trades.

Like say cats run away from.dogs because more often than not it would end badly for cat. You wouldn live long in nature without fear of.dangerous stuff. Now.we humans tidY have the advantage of reason and thought

As a little kid there were a lot of things that would scare me, or at least make me anxious. Now some things like crowds and such will make me a little anxious, but i don't have any specific fears. Not very much scares me. I'm always accidentally walking through spider webs, i handle wild snakes(even the venomous ones, but more carefully) and other animals... Once i learn about something, i usually find out that it makes no sense to be afraid of it, so i don't have a lot left that scares me. My mom sometimes says that i don't have enough of a sense of danger about things.. I don't know about that. I'm still somewhat cautious about things if i don't know whether or not they might be dangerous, but i guess there are also times where it just doesn't occur to me to be afraid of something too.

I think a lot of the snake fears are more learned than they are innate though. I've helped with some educational things about snakes and other animals, and i've noticed that the vast majority of young children are interested in and want to touch the snakes. The adults(teachers or parents) that are there are usually the ones that are afraid to touch them.
