Guess this would be a bad time to ask for reparations in guns and ammo.

Yes these were my thoughts exactly

What impression does this kind of of thread give to an outsider to the ASD community?

We can all express exactly how we feel about things but you have to bear in mind what is
happening in the wider world and how this will impact on other peoples' impressions of us
if we start talking about revenge and violence

Part of me doesn't care what the wider world thinks anyway but another part does

I'm not sure I understand what you're getting at. Out of the 1500 or so occasions that I have used guns and ammo over the past 30 years there have been exactly zero instances of revenge and violence. Are you saying that If a man with AS mentions guns or ammo people will immediately assume revenge and violence because of some whackjob who is rumored to have AS by some still unknown source? Or are guns and ammo always synonymous with revenge and violence?

Is it still ok for me to use the word "drone"? I mean these taxpayer approved little killing machines are operated by NT's and only blow up foreign children in foreign school houses so it should be ok right? It's not like those foreign kids have anyone that loves them.

Hopefully the outsiders reading this will appreciate sarcasm and hypocrisy.

I just know how NTs think

And I know for a fact that an NT reading about people with Aspergers/Autism talking about wanting to get violent revenge on those who have bullied them, especially where guns are also mentioned, is not going to form a good opinion.

I'm not talking about fact; I'm talking about the inevitable conclusions people form when they are already ignorant/ill-informed and prejudiced

I would also add though that I hate guns and would never have one or condone the use of them so from that point of view I'm prejudiced myself.

nessa you're still losing me. The only thing I said were the words "guns and ammo". I said nothing about revenge, violence, nor did I even mention using them. Where did you get revenge and violence? Do hate guns so much that it distorted what I said? I mean if I say car you probably don't think vehicular manslaughter right?

***edit*** ok I thought about this and I think I understand now. I just wanted guns and ammo to go to the shooting range. I said it would be a bad time because people will assume we're all psychotic after the latest media hit hit job on us. I just didn't expect to get it on WP.

And I'm really sorry to hear about your situation at work. I can relate to that.

I think the average bully in school will usually either change themselves later in life (more than likely their early to late 20's) and become a better person, or they will continue to be that person and not really even amount to much in life. Karma has a way of taking a big bite out of people's butts when they hurt other people intentionally. This is the way it usually is. And in my honest opinion, the people they bully, I think they owe them at least something. Bullying is not cool and it's really screwed up.

I was bullied by at least 2 or 3 people in my life, and that was all up in Lake County in California. The first person was a boy around my age, and then actually by a female of all people around my age. The interesting thing about the girl was that she was not a bully towards me in high school, but she was in middle school. AND she knew the guy who bullied me in elementary & middle school. I still even remember his name: Chris Carmichael, I think it was. I told her that this guy was a bully in elementary school and she's all "Oh, I've met that guy." It wasn't a very big county (maybe 45k population back then, it's closer to 70k now). At the time I was pretty surprised that she knew the guy, but these days, not so much with the county not having a big population.

It makes me wonder how much those 2 bullies are doing now, and what they're doing in life. I'm willing to bet that karma bit them in the ass at one point in their lives. And I honestly think bullies deserve everything they get. Kids & teenagers are the cruelest creatures on this planet, and it's been a proven fact many times. Teens (and even young adults 18-25) will start rumors, bully other people and start arguments just because they don't like another person.

When I moved down to Isla Vista (very close to Goleta & Santa Barbara) with my father & started high school down here, I didn't really meet any bullies. But the school back then had about 2050 students (that's a lot to me). My last year in HS, there were 2200 students. I have no idea how many there are now, but I imagine it's only gotten to a bigger number. Every school has it's bullies; it's just a matter of who it is & if you've ever met them. Since I was bullied in school, I never really bullied anyone else because I knew what it felt like to be bullied.

Do people with Aspergers have to pay "reparations" to everyone we may ever have hurt or offended?

I've hurt people. Sometimes by accident. Sometimes on purpose.

Life's a b****, get a helmet.

I was going to say the same - I've said nasty stuff about and to other people

I've made other people cry in the past - should I pay them all reparations?

Everyone would be having to recompense everyone else!

Respect is enough for me. Respect for my differences and being able to be treated like a human being. Reparation payments? That's a little too much.

Why should I want payments for having autism? I view autism as a gift in my life. Sure I have challenges, but doesn't everybody? I have been fortunate so far in my life---perhaps I have been lucky. But no...I can see no reason for my receiving reparation payments because of having autism.

No ... but on second thought, maybe I shouldn't encourage him ... we have enough "tl;dr" posts already.

The whole reparation thing sounds kind of crazy but I was thinking about it and decided some of the families of autistic kids in France probably do deserve some kind of reparations.

They should at least get a letter saying "Sorry we took your child away and electrocuted him in wet blankets. Would you like your child back?"
