I hate having my photo taken, and because I hate it and get totally self-conscious I consequently look strange in the photo, and because I mostly look strange in photos I hate having them taken...arghh..its a negative feedback loop! If its a good photographer who takes a snapshot super quick, I can look ok, but most people are terrible with cameras and focus on you for tens of seconds...urghh... Mostly I'll have one or both eyes closed or having dropped my smile because the photographer took too long time, will be in mid-sentence or have some totally goofy expression... (usually all of the above at the same time!)
I also totally hate CCTV cameras. Its definently the fact that I'm being focused on, somebody is looking/staring at me and I really dont like that. I also get total anxiety when I have to travel through an airport because there are so many security people who are focussing on me and I know there are zillions of hidden cameras everywhere.... its really quite stressfull! Like it borders on paranoia.
I sent some pictures to this girl that I hadnt met and she said I looked different in every picture and that she wouldn't be able to recognize me when we met! (so its not only in my head that I think I look different in every pic).
I think I have maybe less than a handfull of pics where I actually look relaxed and cool...the rest are garbage, and I have NO video clips where I look even remotely normal...!

I love taking the photos though (and I'm not half bad at it either!)

ooops sorry about the multiple postings of the same reply. There is a database error, so it gave me an error message when I posted so I didn't think it actually got posted, and reposted it..... (there ought to be a function to delete multiple postings of the same post anyway...)

I don't like it either, and modesty (and flattery!) aside I don't like looking at myself because I don't view myself as even moderately attractive, physically speaking.

Got my haircut yesterday, and when the moment came to 'view' the result I said it was "alright" within a split second...Pity I would've said the same thing if it was a total disaster, eh?

Nothing wrong with a 'weathered face'! All my heroes, i.e. my ancestors, all have that look about them pretty much.

Then again, I don't know if this is Aspergers kicking in or general self-esteem because I'm sure there are some who just love photos of themselves. I did like one but that was because I was giving the cameraman (my dad I think) the middle-finger.

Is it just me or does the thought of being photographed make your skin crawl?

Yes! Always. Didn´t know it was an aspie thing.
When I see a picture of myself I can never figure out who that person is (even though I obviously know it´s me).

Yeah, I've always hated being photographed, especially without my permission, especially as an innocent bystander in someone else's picture.

Helpful hint: the best way to avoid getting photographed when you're in a group is to volunteer to be the photographer.

EDIT: Not by other people,though...I just like a close friend to do it,or I can do it myself.
And it really depends on how the picture turns out.

Only if I am the one taking the shots or if I have asked someone else to take them. I used to hate it when my father would film with the camcorder especially as I did not like how I looked. I now tend to take a lot of images of myself in hopes of seeing what others see and not hating myself so much lol.

I have never met anyone that photographs worse than I do, I never look remotely like myself. Even my mother admits that she is shocked how different I look in every single photo. every time it turns out different too. I almost never look the same in any 2 photos, and I never look like what I see in the mirror. If I knew how to scan photos to a computer I could show you, but it would be kind of pointless because it wouldn 't actually look like me.

LOATHE being photographed for all of the reasons you all listed. The Irony? I'm a photographer. The good news is that if you show up with a camera, people don't tend to take your picture.

People are always wanting to photograph me. It's my 'odd' look, and the clothes that I wear. I'm begining to demand that they contact me, and send me digital copies. Let's see if I can keep it up.

I hated being photographed in my teens because I thought I looked fat and I was ugly and I hated my big boobs and I hated the way I smiled.

I especialy do not like being professionaly photographed. They put me in the most unnatural poses, and then to get me to smile they tell me to say the most nastiest things, like "my mother has stinky feet" . I laugh without saying it though. At there stupidity, and immaturity  . Seriously, two different photographers have tried to get a reaction out of me by insulting my parents. I don't know why though, since my parents are the ones paying for it. :)
