I can't stand the sound of a ticking clock, it seems to echo and amplify in my head so loud. To me it sounds like someone hammering a nail into my skull. I hate it.

Ticking clocks are awful, I finally convinced my parents to have the worst one in my house taken down.

Another sound I can't stand are gongs.

Squeaky doors, but on some days it can be almost anything

I also can't stand it when someone whispers in my ear, it actually causes me pain.

My worst sounds are:

*The 'tinny musical birthday card' sort of sound
*People crunching food
*Kids screaming
*Drills
*Chainsaws
*Some vacuum cleaners
*Rubbing on the surface of chairs
*People breathing through their teeth
*Scraping forks on pottery plates.

my aspie Siamese cat so hated the sound of a ticking clock that it literally climbed the wall to swat it down and destroy it.

Metal, just thinking about it is horrible.

Subway breaks (I stick my fingers in my ears) high pitched noises like a dentist drill (phantom pain)

Scratching paper, scratching metal on metal.

Murmuring sound of a TV from another room
Scraping, banging and bonking sounds from the room above
Crying babies and screaming toddlers
Plates clanging together
That dry scratchy sound when someone looks for something in the freezer
Doors slamming (and feeling the vibration from it)
Hearing my cat miawing from the kitchen when I'm in my bedroom
Hearing the sound of the kettle from the kitchen when I'm in my bedroom
Teenagers shouting, swearing and giggling
People amplifying their yawns

I won't put dogs barking on the list because I only don't like dogs barking because it makes me jump, not because it annoys me as such, if that makes sense.

I'm a part-time musician (saxophonist), and I absolutely HATE the sound of Kenny G. His tone is puerile and cloying. In fact, that goes for a lot of so-called "smooth" jazz horn players.

My mother has a particularly loud vacuum cleaner that I hate the sound of.
- The sound of a knife scraping on a plate makes my skin crawl (also, squeaky brakes when a car slows to a stop)
- The sound of jingling keys is like nails on a chalkboard to me
- babies crying/squealing
- the high pitched noise that electronics make
- the squeaking sound some people's teeth make when they're chewing
- the ticking from analog clocks
- the beep that appliances like microwaves and coffee pots make. It sounds really loud to me, and sometimes hurts my ears.
- the clanging sound of the cutlery when my mother empties the dishwasher. (It's SO LOUD. Why does she have to make so much noise?? It doesn't seem to bother anyone else, though).
- windchimes (not the ones with big tubes that make a low pitched sound. The smaller ones that make a higher pitched sound. Those are awful :x ).
- the clinky sound of a spoon in a cup when someone is stirring a drink

I HATE hearing people sniff. I just want to go over to them and shout in their face: "GET A GOD**** TISSUE!! !"
I also hate it when people try to sniff their snot into the back of their throat. Instant gagging fit when I hear someone do that. XP
I also forgot to put people chewing loudly on my list. It makes me want to punch them in the mouth.

I think your idea of a personalized hell would be being trapped for all eternity, in a doorless/windowless/exitless room with the former Kenny Gorelick performing circular breathing on his soprano saxophone. :P

Any loud or scrapey noises. The work fire alarm (tested every Friday!), metal on metal, knives on plates, people with really strident voices, whistles, vacuum cleaners, drills, sirens, I could go on all day about annoying noises :D

Oh, and the most annoying thing at the moment is those automated checkout things, saying "Please insert your card" and "Please place the item in the bag" when you just did, and "Please remove the last item from your bag" for no reason whatsoever, over and over in a horrific discord from all the adjoining ones too <grrrr>
