I remember hearing a few years ago on one of those conspiracy theory call in radio shows, this whack job saying that thousands of years ago, aliens experimented with the DNA of the animals when making humans. They used dolphin DNA or something and made mermaids, autistic people are the descendants of them. I thought it was so funny I posted about it here to share some laughs when I used another account.

But I am no dolphin, I am a meerkat. A magic meerkat.

When conspiracy theories are so complicated they require google to confirm you can make mermaids from dolphins

Link below to a recent The Aspie World video where they mention that the word autistic was censored.

I used to scoff, and laugh, too! At the notion that autistics could be really be dolphins. But this candid home video of Daryll Hannah (an openly aspie celeb)in a restaurant made me wonder if there wasn't something to it!

This time I typed in "Women are", and Google auto-completed with the following:

Women are...

... from Venus
... not small men
... some kind of magic
... undefeated
... not nags
... funny get over it
... wonderful effect
... like pancakes
... not rehabilitation centers

Typed "Aspies are" and "Autistics are" into Google's search engine, and the autocomplete feature returned:

Aspies are...
... annoying
... awesome
... ret*ds
... evil
... stupid
... selfish
... sociopaths
... cute
... superior
... hot

Autistics are...
... ret*d
... annoying
... evil
... dangerous
... selfish
... stupid
... smart
... superior
... dolphins
... intelligent

Most of these are understandable, and some I even agree with; but "Autistics are dolphins"?

I love dolphins so I am thrilled to now know that I am one! :D

That would go some of the way to explaining my "fish out of water" feeling. And before anybody starts, I know dolphins technically aren't fish.

Interesting. As it's against my religion to use Google, I tried typing "autistics are" into DuckDuckGo, and got the following auto-complete suggestions: "useless, arrogant, annoying, invisible, not human." "Aspies are" got "us, awful, nerds, creepy, avoided, clueless." The same experiment using "muslims are," christians are," and "atheists are" gave no suggestions at all. Quite what it all means, I don't know. Sorry if all this has been reported before in a previous post, but it's rather a long thread to read in its entirety.
Wow! Don't even know what to say to that search. I am going to try it on Google.

I just did the "Autistics are" Google search. The results were much better than the duckduckgo results. So at least that's positive

Do you mean they were more complimentary, or that there were just more of them, or both?

They pretty much links to articles describing what Autism actually is and the regular things that we find about Autism awareness and therapies and stuff like that.

Ah, much less pejorative then, i.e. more complimentary, than what I got with DuckDuckGo.
