a person went up to me in a supermarket one time, and warmly greeted me- It was obvious that she well knew me, at least, even though I had not a clue as to who she was. so I had to pretend that I knew what was going on, that was SO exhausting.

That happens to me all the time. Once my best friend's aunt, who I have met on several occasions, showed up at the book store I was hanging out in and said hi and started talking to me. It wasn't until she mentioned my friend's name that I remembered who she was; she reminded me slightly of my old maths teacher, but I knew that couldn't possibly be who she was. I've also sat through 15 week classes at university only to see the professor again on campus once the semester is over, and have no idea who they are, only that I vaguely know them from somewhere. Whenever my mother has her friends or acquaintances over at the house I always have to ask beforehand if I've met them before, and she usually says yes, but when I see them I have no recollection of ever having known them. The worst is when they ask, "Hey, remember me?" and I have to lie and say yes, when in fact had they not asked me that, I wouldn't know them from Adam.

if google glass can save us collectively from such a fate, then I will get a pair one day.

How is Google glass going to do that? Do you pull up an id of the person or something?

I think with me, even an ID might not help in some circumstances, I would need a reminder of where and when I met the person.

JSBachLover, is your current profession as a Catholic priest easier because there is repetition in what you do and say in the services? I wonder if this helps you when you have to do it in front of lots of people.

since google glass will be capable of recording as well as facial recognition [eventually] that would be a natural app for them to remember a face and flash info about a recurrence of said face along with pertinent info such as "last met at the meeting on December 3, 2013" or something like that.

these days, if I could think of something, it means that it already was thought of long before I thought of it. this tech has long existed but so far google glass would be the first public unveiling of the technology for the use of private citizens rather than a gov't agency.

Sir, you give yourself too little credit - sometimes I just want to follow you around and collect blabbyisms and publish them in a book. You are very imaginative and you have a way with words.

I might do it someday. One of my dream is to have a publishing company that helps Aspie voices get out there. But it would be your book, I could help you collect them from the posts though. I'd just take the normal publisher's cut.

I think we've discussed this before, I'm suddenly remembering talk of an Oprah appearance. I guess I should quit talking and get moving.

(Hopefully JS Bach won't get upset that we hijacked his thread)

Well the book is going to be so good that it'll be easy to get you booked. Plus you've got that trendy Autism diagnosis working in your favor (I'm not kidding, I'll use it dude)!

What should we call it though, we need a catchy title?

well, brain droppings is already taken [George carlin, universe rest his soul]. maybe "mental drippings"? I never claimed to be original. apologies to JSBachlover, he and all the rest of us WPers should be in your book, the best of our mental drippings would fill 300 pages and more, this I believe.

Yes, repetition and ritual helps. I don't get nervous speaking in public. The hardest stuff I do is when I have to arrange and do a funeral, or chat with a couple who is getting married. Also, funerals interrupt my planned schedule (people die and then they are buried usually in two days, so that changes my routine and stresses me out). But the rest I'm ok with.

I do have depth perception. in fact my depth perception seems fine to me.
