Dunno about that one. Maybe it's just that pure of a love.........

Well, one thing I've learned is that autism has many variations, mine happens to be the highly systemized data driven type and music is merely a repetition of patterns with alterations, so it's very fulfilling for my mind. You're right though, there are others on the spectrum that will have difficulty even playing an instrument due to motor coordination skills. To each his own, they will have other abilities I myself wouldn't be able to learn if I spent a lifetime.
I was referring to my literal translation of 'love it more than life itself' and thinking of a sheet of music and a meal on a deserted island.....I think you would eat rather than play. Sorry, that was my warped thought process.......

Yes, but I have told many people that I love music theory so much I could eat it. I understand Aristophanes very much! :D

Why did you have to go and get married before I ever met you! Life is sooo unfair.

But yeah, music theory is super awesome. Do you just do exercises or do you write too?

I don't know what to say. I'm sorry?

I never minded theory or counterpoint exercises, but I also write. I have links to some of my music posted in the WP musicians showcase thread. I'm currently working on a piece for full orchestra. I also have a few piano students and accompany a couple of choral groups.

I am still a newbie in composition. That's one of those things I have always loved but I was too timid to really go after when I went to college as an undergrad. I had my first formal composition lesson about 2-1/2 years ago, at age 37.

@Nerdygirl

I listened to all four songs I saw posted. I really like White Apples, especially the repetitive & 2 & motif. There's a fluid chromaticism to your music that reminds me a lot of Debussy. Keep up the good work!

My link is at the bottom of this page, but the thread contains links to many WP members' music.

Thank you...going to take a listen now.....

Very interesting...Not my listening style. But I can appreciate the intricacies woven in.

Thanks for the encouragement. I am wanting to beat my head against a wall right now b/c of this piece I am now working on. Just listened to it again for the first time after getting back home from vacation. Crap, crap, crap.

It's not that it is *ALL* terrible, but that it is so hard and time consuming to make it how I want. UGH.

Ah, I have been there many times, my friend. I have good idea, but my working product drives me crazy because it doesn't match my musical thought precisely. The more you learn and practice at it, you'll get it.

Seems interesting that many can play instruments etc, but as an idea, maybe its down to hyper focus, as when i play sports and my instrument i am fully focused, but get me in the kitchen i have to wear shoes as i am constantly dropping knives and knocking things over, maybe its because my mind wanders!? I love to cook, find it therapeutic, but mind does tend to go on its own journey! same with walking, always veering off, or shouldering corner of doorways etc... So as a guess maybe as mentioned its a focusing thing!?
