I don't remember too much when I was really young, but I would watch the same couple videos all the time. I still like those movies. Disney's The Sword in the Stone, a collection of taped cartoons off of cable, and Fraggle Rock, loved that one.
I also used to have sports cards. I didn't really care much about the sports, I knew nothing about the players or even the rules of the games. I did however love to collect the cards. I would sit on my bed all afternoon and sort them by some category like teams. A day or two later I would resort them by card number, then alphabetically, etc...
I still love collecting things. The collectible card games have done serious damage to my wallet. Many of the cards that I collected I might have played only a few times. I organize these every so often.
I reorganize my dresser frequently.

Earlier than I can remember with regards to music, which is the one interest that has stuck, without pause, my whole life. I asked for a piano when I was three maybe, and went from there. My interest in writing started even earlier... before I could talk, I demanded that Mom teach me the alphabet. I was obsessed with magic tricks from about five to eight years old. That's all the really early ones I can think of.

I remember being obsessed with my pink Smurfette sneakers when I was 2 or 3.
I also remember being really obsessed with Dinosaurs and Rainbow Brite.

I think my first was with pushbuttons, starting at age 3, according to my mother. Radios, TVs, etc. This led to an obsession with taking them apart, which led to me getting in trouble a lot. Actually, since I went into the computer field, you could argue that the pushbutton obsession continues.

I'm not sure if this it's possible to have an obsession with the sea and sea life from the age of 2 or 3? Apparently as a kid I never smiled or laughed but the first time they took me to the sea (50miles away) at around 2 or 3 I just started squealing and clapping my hands and laughing and still today it's a fairly big obsession.

If the above isn't applicable then it would probably be the army and police from around age 4 or 5.

I prefer to call them focussed interests but my first life-long interest began at age 6, I did have others before then but they didn't last and not sure how much they were ordinary phases or obsessive, so not counting them.

the first one i remember was time, i became very obsessed with time before school. my first teacher recommended a watch, so i wouldn't cause so many distractions asking about time.

When i look back on my life, i can think of all the things that i did/had that my mom would end up frustrated with me for because i did them so religiously. I collected chestnuts as a kid. HUNDREDS of them in buckets and boxes. The squirrels of NJ starved for a couple of years in the winter. My mom threw them out and i had a fit. I've also been big into dinosaurs (saw Jurassic Park 8 times in the theater including opening night), cars (still am into Oldsmobiles bigtime), clay figurines ( when i was a kid this was also one of those things my mom had to dispose of since they took up the entire room). There were lots of things like that--- most of them made no sense to anyone else, but it didn't matter. I spent alot of time by myself as a kid, with only a few friends.
In high school i had a few more, usually outcast types or metalheads ( i was STRONGLY into metal and, well, so were metalhead kids). I still have obsessions and intense hobbies ( my preferred term instead of "obsessions") like Oldsmobiles but people either accept it or they leave me alone.

I guess about 3 or 4 I became obsessed with anything that was yellow in color. I remember that my bugged my dad until he painted my bedroom yellow. By 5 I was a full blown hyperlexic so I was obsessed with any printed text.

That was my brother. I, on the other hand, was obsessed with taking apart things, including anything he built out of Legos. My mom loved this - before I was old enough to go to school, she would sit me out in the play room and I would work at taking apart Legos quietly while she did housework. It drove my brother to tears on several occasions although he was often glad when I pried apart pieces that even he couldn't get apart. LOL.

I think reading is the first obsession I can remember, from about 3. I learnt to read really fast and would read almost anything. When I got to school the books had no words and I was so confused. When I got to 5 or 6 I was bought loads of fact books, which I would read from cover to cover. I collected weetabix tokens to buy the books on animals and stuff too. I still love books but due to having a very busy life at the moment, I tend to not read anything for months and then spend a few weeks reading one or two books a day.

I was obsessed with my own world since I was little. Then I got obsessed with dogs at 8ish which later changed to all animals, but still dogs. At 11 or 12 I got obsessed with anime as well as animals.
