I agree. At this point, a formal label probably wouldn't help and could probably hurt my advancement at work if it gets out. I just need to meet my goals and improve my functioning in daily life.

Hmmm. You've brainwashed yourself. That is impressive. Perhaps you don't have AS, but instead you are a typical male thinker who doesn't naturally empathize with women?

I read what you wrote, and it seems to me that you've taught yourself how to behave like an NT. I did that for thirty years while I held down a job; it made me very sick. If you can go there and survive, more power to you.

I think his problem is he's in love.
Maybe he should unlearn it.

No, I think his problem is the so-called "Cassandra Affective Disorder," being promulgated by the FAAAS website. These women claim to have become extremely depressed by living with aspie males. They blame AS for everything. Apparently, he believes this stuff.

HAHA.

Maybe they should blame themselves for being stupid enough to figure they could emotionally heal an AS that couldn't give a damn about their emotional irrationality.

I smell a smell of codependency.

Absolutely. Check them out as well as a therapist named Maxine Aston. www.faaas.org

Case histories:

You'll see where they are coming from.

JCJC777 will apparently do anything to save his marriage and I admire his loyalty. But he's kidding himself to think that he can change his personality to make his wife happy.

JCJC777, I am not a systemizer. As an iNTP, I use mostly iNtuition and am very unsystematic in the way I think and do things. You sound like an INTJ.

Absolutely not. I am an INTJ. From what I have analyzed He sounds like an ISTJ or an ISTP. He is definitely not an Intuitive Thinker. I've done an incredible amount of research on the MBTI.

JCJC777, If you desire to learn more about yourself I suggest the following links:
http://similarminds.com/embj.html
Once done the test there ( make sure you're honest with yourself not with what you feel or think you SHOULD be ) you can find a very good rundown and some helpful resources of interaction as your Type here at http://www.personalitypage.com

I think he would connect well with this:

They both need to look at their types to work at a marriage. If this is what he wants to try to save his marriage, I hope it works. Everyone just does what they can do to get by and I think the challenges are greater for Aspie guys with NT women because there are so few intuitive thinker women. He probably married an ENFP. Any Aspie guy with an NT ought to give her the MBTI test and think long and hard about her personality type. Some types just aren't meant to be together. Or, you can do it, but it takes constant work and you never relax.

I'll stick to my rational, intellectual guy. We do just fine together.

Good luck JC.
