I'd say that I'm somewhat materialistic. I like having collections of books, vinyl, DVD/Blu-rays and vintage comic books. I also have some really nice prints, Apple products and designer furniture pieces (particularly like Eames furniture).

I would say Autistics are not as materialistic as Neurotypicals. Depends on the Autistic.

My parents grew up poor & had to work very hard to become lower middle class. They couldn't afford to spend money on me that my peers parents could spend of them. Yes I had a lot of toys & vid games but those things were my special interests & I didn't have much interest in other things anyways which is good because my parents didn't want to spend much more money on me than they already were & they gripped about the cost when I wanted to eat out or something even thou we did it abit(they loved to complain about doing special things for me). I'm currently disabled & on Social Security Disability & only receive $884 a month. Even when I was working I wasn't making a lot of money & I had to give about half of it to my parents(SSI required me to) & then I had to pay a lot for my medical bills & insurance cuz none of the docs in my area would accept the Louisiana state Medicaid cuz it didn't pay them enough. I would say I'm not materialistic but I spend my extra personal money on things like computer/net related things but I love spending time on comp & I pirate most my music, TV shows, & movies cuz there's NO way I could afford to get em otherwise. About the only personal thing I spend money on besides that stuff is a knife/blade & other similar type thing collection.

I'm not materialistic at all. In fact, whilst I value my technology I otherwise crave a very simple life. I want to work just enough to earn what I need to get by, because free time and family are the most important things.

This is how I am also.

I value my freedom the most, and my electronics allow for a lot of that.

I do like nice things, but I can give them away quite easily when they're no longer of use to me.

Although I enjoy them in the moment, I don't tend to form attachments to objects (or people, unfortunately).

That used to be a problem on moving day, but now it fits on a keychain. Even decent bass speakers are tiny now.

it would take me several lifetimes to digitize my collection. so I will leave it to those who follow me. it likely will scatter to the 4 winds and/or evaporate in large part. but at least it serves me now while i'm alive. :dj: if somebody could shrink down my Ohm Walsh speakers, that would be a boon. i'm a big fan of augmented stereo speaker arrays.

It should not be too hard to at least digitize each selection automatically when you do play it.

the problem is, that the majority of my music collection is on phonograph records [LPs, 45s and 78s] and archived open reel and cassette tapes that need restoration, which is the time-consuming part aside from the initial copying and digitizing.

I have a collection of toys, but I’m not materialistic in the sense of “my stuff before anyone else”. You know?
